Inside Paraguay Blockchain Summit 2026: Shaping Latin America’s Digital Future

The Paraguay Blockchain Summit 2026 on Friday, 7 August, brought together more than 2,000 entrepreneurs, investors, developers, regulators, academics, and technology companies at the Universidad Autónoma de Asunción. The event followed its first edition in 2025, which brought blockchain specialists and technology leaders together in Asunción.

The Asunción Times attended the summit to cover the presentations, discussions, and activities taking place throughout the final day. At the 2026 edition, international and regional experts discussed blockchain, digital assets, financial innovation, and regulation across two auditoriums and an expo corridor. Together, these spaces created a full programme focused on the future of the digital economy in Latin America.

A meeting point for the blockchain industry

From early morning, attendees moved between keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and exhibition stands in the Paraguay Blockchain Summit 2026. The venue remained active throughout the day as professionals exchanged ideas, introduced projects, and explored potential business opportunities. Meanwhile, companies showcased blockchain services and digital finance solutions inside the expo corridor, creating spaces for conversations beyond scheduled sessions.

The main auditorium opened with institutional remarks before a series of conferences examining blockchain technology and its growing applications. Speakers from government institutions, international companies, and financial organisations discussed digital assets, payments, investment, regulation, and financial services. At the same time, workshops in the second auditorium allowed participants to explore specialised topics in greater detail.

Paraguay: A digital asset processing star

Paraguay ranks as the fourth country in the world for digital asset processing, establishing itself as one of the leading players in the global digital economy, as highlighted by Joaquín Morínigo, founder of CriptoPy and co-founder of the Paraguay Blockchain Summit, in an earlier conversation with state media.

Morínigo noted that Paraguay is surpassed only by Russia, the United States and the United Arab Emirates in the processing of digital assets, an achievement that underscores Paraguay’s potential to attract investment and develop an industry founded on technological innovation.

In that context, he highlighted that during 2025 Paraguay generated more than 250 million dollars through cryptocurrency mining activity, which demonstrates the sustained growth of the sector and the opportunities offered by the country thanks to its energy infrastructure and stability.

Regional experts share different perspectives

The Paraguay Blockchain Summit 2026 featured speakers from major companies, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and blockchain organisations across the region. Among them Juan Carlos Reyes from El Salvador’s National Commission of Digital Assets and Carolina Pancotto Bohrer from Brazil’s Central Bank. Other speakers came from companies like Chainalysis, HIVE Digital, and Bitfinex.

Meanwhile, Óscar Orué represented Paraguay’s National Directorate of Tax Revenue, while Bruno Vaccotti represented the Paraguayan Fintech Chamber. Together, the speakers brought different perspectives on regulation, payments, infrastructure, compliance, taxation, and investment.

Their discussions focussed on Paraguay’s renewable energy resources, digital infrastructure, financial regulation, tokenisation, stablecoins, and cryptocurrency taxation. Consequently, attendees gained insight into the different factors influencing the region’s rapidly developing digital economy. The programme also examined how blockchain infrastructure can connect financial services across Latin American markets.

Building Paraguay’s digital future

The Paraguay Blockchain Summit 2026 showcased the country’s growing role within Latin America’s digital economy. By bringing international experts together with local institutions and private companies, the event encouraged discussion around emerging technologies and their practical applications.

As the final sessions concluded, attendees left with new professional connections, practical knowledge, and perspectives on the technologies transforming financial services. Ultimately, the Paraguay Blockchain Summit 2026 strengthened Asunción’s role as a meeting point for conversations about blockchain, digital finance, and technological innovation across Latin America.
