Asunción’s historic centre will celebrate the closing days of the San Juan season on Saturday, 11 July 2026. This time, a special edition of Palmear is dedicated to one of Paraguay’s most beloved cultural traditions. From 11:00 to 23:00, Calle Palma will become a lively open-air meeting point for Palmear San Juan. Visitors of all ages can expect traditional food, live music, and dance performances.
Presented as the final “San Juanazo” of the year, the event invites everyone to enjoy the festive atmosphere. Visitors will find stalls offering traditional dishes such as mbejú, pajagua mascada, pastel mandi’o, and chicharõ trenzado. Additionally, artisan products and local entrepreneurs will showcase their creations.
Programme for the day

The programme will feature cultural performances throughout the day. Beginning with municipal cultural groups presenting traditional music and dance from 11:30 to 18:00. The evening will continue with performances by the Municipal Folkloric Ballet and the Municipal Folkloric Ensemble. Also, Panta Folk, the folk group Peñeando, and DJ Residente are bringing the celebration to a close.
While this edition marks the end of San Juan festivities, the weekly fair will continue bringing activities to Calle Palma. Since its launch, Palmear has become one of Asunción’s key urban revitalisation initiatives. The fair encourages residents and visitors to reconnect with the city’s historic centre every Saturday.
The 2026 programme has featured themed editions celebrating local gastronomy, culture, entrepreneurship, and international communities, strengthening Calle Palma’s role as a vibrant public space for social gatherings and cultural exchange.
A free weekend activity
The San Juan edition is organised with the support of the Government of Paraguay, the Office of the First Lady, the Municipality of Asunción, and the Asociación de la Movida del Centro Histórico de Asunción (AMCHA). Admission remains free, offering an accessible weekend activity for families, friends, and tourists exploring the capital. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy traditional dishes, explore artisan stalls, and experience the final San Juan celebrations of the year, as Palmear continues its mission of bringing life and culture to the heart of Asunción.
Folk Fusion To Asunción’s Port Area
The fourth edition of Fiesta del Fuego (Fire Festival) will also take place on Saturday, 11 July at the Centro Cultural del Puerto. Running from 15:00 to 23:00, the celebration will showcase folk fusion, combining Paraguayan musical traditions with contemporary sounds and artistic expressions.
The event will feature performances by a diverse line-up of artists and groups, including Bohemia Urbana, Joaju Cuarteto, Rocío Robledo, Nde Pomberos, Jagua Hû y los Espíritus Chocarreros, Ajo from Corrientes, Argentina, Jorge Ramos, Ricardo Flecha, and Kamba Kua.
