The Government of Paraguay has officially launched a new initiative designed to strengthen the nation’s presence in the global marketplace. Presented through the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) via its Investment and Export Network (Rediex), the “Paraguay Exporta +” programme provides training and technical support for national companies aimed at expanding the international reach and diversification of the country’s exports.
The announcement was made during the Paraguayan Business Fair (Feria Empresarial del Paraguay, FEPY 2026). During the launch, officials highlighted the significant growth, transformation, and diversification of Paraguay’s export offerings. They noted that in 2025, national exports reached a value of approximately US$16 billion, driven by substantial growth in the manufactured goods sector.
Comprehensive training for global markets
The core of the programme features a detailed training curriculum divided into five modules. Each module addresses an essential aspect of international trade, providing businesses with the practical knowledge needed to succeed abroad. The training sessions are structured to cover a wide range of critical topics for any aspiring exporter.
The modules include the following key areas of focus:
- Export Processes: A detailed overview of the fundamental procedures, documentation, and steps involved in exporting goods.
- Market Analysis: Training on how to conduct thorough market research to identify opportunities and effectively connect national supply with international demand.
- Operational Quality: An examination of the quality control standards and certifications required to meet the expectations of global markets.
- International Logistics: Guidance on optimising supply chains, managing shipping, and reducing both costs and delivery times.
- Exporter Taxation: A comprehensive review of the fiscal responsibilities, tax frameworks, and financial considerations for exporting companies.
Through this initiative, the government aims to equip national companies with the necessary tools to capitalise on future opportunities. The ultimate objective of “Paraguay Exporta +” is to enhance the overall competitiveness of Paraguayan businesses, thereby increasing their potential for sustained commercial success in the competitive international arena.
A focus on economic diversification
The shift towards manufactured products represents a key evolution in the Paraguay’s economic profile. Eduardo Gustale, the Vice Minister of Rediex, emphasised the importance of this development in his remarks. He explained that the manufacturing sector is now on par with the traditionally dominant agricultural sector in terms of export volume, marking a critical milestone for the nation’s economy.
Today, manufacturing practically matches agricultural products in export volume, which represents a very important advance in the diversification of what Paraguay takes to the world.
According to Gustale, this progress is already yielding tangible results. In the last year alone, approximately 100 different national products successfully entered 53 new international markets. These achievements help consolidate the presence of Paraguayan companies on a global scale. Furthermore, he cited specific examples of this expansion, including the export of offal to Uzbekistan, organic rum to Russia, and both laminated and plywood products to Latvia.
Paraguay Exporta + programme structure and key sectors
The “Paraguay Exporta +” programme is designed to be widely accessible to the nation’s business community. Participation comes at no cost and is open to all Paraguayan companies that wish to develop or enhance their export capabilities. This approach, according to officials, ensures that businesses of all sizes have the opportunity to benefit from the government’s support.
While the initiative is open to all, it will initially prioritise several key industrial sectors. These include food and beverages, clothing, forestry, and metalworking. Consequently, the programme combines specialised technical training with personalised assistance and strategic guidance.
