Itapúa is getting ready to welcome thousands of visitors for the World Rally Championship, one of the most anticipated motorsports events of the year. Local and national authorities are working together to ensure that rally fans have all the necessary amenities to enjoy the competition and tourism in the region, with a huge number already preparing to camp in Itapúa for the duration of the event.
During the coordination meetings, the mayors of Bella Vista, Hohenau and San Pedro del Paraná presented several options for available land to be used as camping areas. Now, the National Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur) has the task of enabling and verifying that these places meet the appropriate conditions to receive visitors.
In an interview with Radio Uno 650 AM, Senatur’s director of tourism, Víctor Chamorro, said that a large influx of visitors is expected: “We expect that some 100,000 people will be camping in the places where the Rally will take place ,” Chamorro said.
Paraguay’s Minister of Tourism, Angie Duarte, highlighted the importance of the event for the country’s economy and tourism promotion. “The @officialrallypy is coming up and we are ready to welcome thousands of visitors to our country. A large influx of public is expected, with up to 100,000 people camping along the route. Itapúa is an ideal destination for camping and adventure tourism, offering great potential with its natural beauty, cultural wealth and Paraguayan hospitality!”
The minister also stressed that the hotel infrastructure in Encarnación and its surroundings is prepared to receive tourists with options ranging from luxury hotels to more affordable alternatives.
