The 2025 edition of the ‘Italian Design Day’ in Paraguay, organised by the Embassy of Italy, will take place between February 24 and 26. This was announced by the diplomatic office in a statement, indicating that the events will be open to the public.
The ‘Miguel Acevedo’ room at the Manzana de la Rivera Cultural Centre in Asunción will host the photography exhibition ‘Career Photography. Tribute of Italian photography to the masters of the Compasso d’Oro Award’ , which will display a selection of images dedicated to the winners of the prestigious Compasso d’Oro Career Photography Award , the oldest and most renowned industrial design award in the world. The exhibition will be open to the public on 25 and 26 February from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The exhibition will open on Monday 24 February at 8pm and will feature the special presence of Professor Fabrizio Quatrini, senior architect, designer and teacher at the Accademia del Lusso in Rome, who will be the guest of honour of this edition. With an outstanding career in architecture, design and visual communication, Quatrini will share his vision on the impact of design on society. He has worked with Habitat Legno SpA and collaborated with architectural and engineering studios, specialising in 3D modelling and project management. In addition, his passion for photography has led him to develop branding and interior design projects.
As part of the program, Quatrini will offer the masterclass “Inequalities. How to mend the fractures of humanity” at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Art (FADA) of the National University of Asunción (UNA). The session will take place on February 24 in two shifts: the first in the morning, at 9:00 a.m., and the second in the afternoon, at 4:30 p.m., in order to meet the great interest generated among academics and architecture students.
Italian Design Day is a global event that aims to highlight the excellence of Italian design and its impact on everyday life. This edition will explore the role of design in reducing inequalities and its contribution to social well-being, addressing themes such as spatial design, accessibility, sustainability, education, health, urban regeneration, transport and infrastructure.
A spokesperson said: “The event represents a unique opportunity to assess the influence of design in improving individual and collective well-being, consolidating Paraguay as a meeting point for cultural exchange between Italy and Paraguay, as well as a space for debate on the future of design at a global level.”
