The organisation has launched its 8th Photography Contest and 2nd Reels Contest, both revolving around the central theme of “Border Integration.” This creative call is extended to citizens of Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, and Uruguay, inviting them to capture and share the essence of life in the areas where these nations meet.
The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of US$500, while the second-place entrant will be awarded US$300. The primary objective of these contests is to create a visual mosaic of the cultural, social, and human expressions that flourish in the frontier zones of the region. By encouraging submissions from the public, Mercosur aims to showcase the rich tapestry of experiences that define these communities. A platform for cross-border stories
Participants are encouraged to submit works that reflect the deep-seated connections and coexistence between border communities. The organisation is specifically looking for entries that portray shared traditions, regional gastronomy, common customs, and local music. Moreover, submissions can also explore the unique accents and dialects that emerge in these areas, as well as compelling scenes from daily life that illustrate a sense of shared identity.
Eligibility is open to all citizens of the participating countries who are 18 years of age or older. However, the Reels contest features an additional interactive element: a “Public’s Prize.” This award will be determined by a public vote held among the top 10 video finalists. These finalist videos will be published on the official Mercosur Instagram account, allowing followers and the general public to select their favourite entry.
