This Sunday, October 6, the time change will take place in Paraguay, advancing the clocks by 60 minutes, thus making the usual adjustment to daylight saving time. This way, the usual adjustment to daylight saving time is made, which could be of definitive use for the country according to a law approved in Congress.
On the first Sunday of October, the adjustment to the official time of the Republic of Paraguay is made, established in UTC-3 for summer, according to the presidential decree 3638 in force since 2009. Therefore, from midnight this Sunday, October 6, the official time must be advanced by 60 minutes throughout the national territory. This schedule was again adjusted to winter time on the last Sunday of March.
However, due to a law recently approved by Congress, this may be the last time this adjustment is made since daylight saving time would be the definitive one for the country, as established by the regulation. The proposal was approved by both chambers of the National Congress and was sent to the Executive Power for its enactment or veto.
If the law is approved, by means of an executive decree, Paraguay will have -3 GMT, which is in force in Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and some states of Brazil.
“The persistence or permanence of summer time favours the safety conditions in our country, due to a better use of the sun during the afternoon hours,” expressed the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Raúl Latorre, among one of the justifications of the initiative.
