Asunción will host the winter fair “Artesanías que Abrigan” (“Crafts that bring Warmth”) in the city centre this July. The fair will take place on 4 and 5 July 2026 at the Espacio Cultural Staudt, bringing together artisans from across Paraguay. Organised as part of a national initiative to promote local craftsmanship, the event aims to highlight the value of traditional production methods. Entry will be free of charge, and the fair will run from 09:00 to 20:00 on both days.
Craftsmanship for the winter season
Visitors can expect a wide range of artisanal products designed especially for the colder months. These include woollen textiles, handmade garments, leather goods, ceramics, woodwork, and decorative pieces rooted in Paraguayan cultural identity. The fair is organised by the Instituto Paraguayo de Artesanía (IPA), the national institution responsible for promoting and strengthening Paraguay’s artisanal sector. Its mission focuses on preserving traditional knowledge, supporting artisan communities across the country, and encouraging the development of creative economies based on handmade production.
Winter in Paraguay runs from June to August and is generally mild compared to other regions. However, some weeks can feel noticeably colder, especially during early mornings and nights when temperatures drop significantly. It is precisely this seasonal variation that gives meaning to the fair, with many crafts focused on providing warmth, comfort, and protection during the chilliest days.

Staudt as a cultural meeting point

The venue, Centro Cultural Staudt, is located in the historic centre of Asunción, at the corner of Iturbe and Mariscal Estigarribia streets. It is a restored heritage building that has been transformed into a public cultural space dedicated to exhibitions, workshops, and community events. Its central location makes it easily accessible for both residents and visitors, reinforcing its role as a hub for artistic life in the capital.
In recent years, the space has become a key point in efforts to revitalise the city centre through culture. It regularly hosts fairs, performances, and exhibitions that bring together artists and the public in an open and participatory environment. The winter fair continues this trajectory by activating the centre through a large-scale, community-focused event.
Beyond its commercial dimension, the fair serves as an important platform for artisans from across the country. It encourages direct interaction between creators and the public, reinforcing the value of handmade production in a rapidly industrialised world. By bringing together diverse products, “Artesanías que Abrigan” positions itself as a key moment in Paraguay’s cultural calendar. It is both a seasonal marketplace and a living exhibition of national identity.
