Paraguayan documentary “The Skin Where I Find Myself” wins multiple awards

The Paraguayan documentary “La Piel Donde Me Hallo” (The Skin Where I Find Myself) has been released online after its screening at international film festivals. The documentary portrays the lives of trans people in Paraguay.

It was screened at festivals in Italy, Spain, India, Brazil and Mexico, where it was recognised for its portrayal of the struggles, dreams and resistance of transgender people.

Produced by Amnesty International Paraguay and Codehupy, with the support of the National Trans Roundtable, it is a production by Aline Moscato and Néstor Amarilla. Amamos Cine is the production company responsible, which has works such as the mini-series “Soy Real”, about the fight for the name change of trans people, “Historia Viva”, short films about migration in Paraguay, Arte que Late, a documentary miniseries about art workers, the feature film La Redención (2018), among others.

“The Skin Where I Find Myself” has been part of the official selection of the Barcelona Queer Film Festival 2024 (Spain), Contra el Silencio Todas Las Voces 2024 (Mexico), the Lift-Off Filmmaker Sessions (United Kingdom) and the Hollywood North International Film Festival 2023 (USA).

The film was awarded the following prizes:

– OFFCINEDOC Award for Best Documentary Short Film at the Oyola Fabián International Documentary Film Festival 2024 (Spain)
– Best International Documentary Award at the 3rd Kaaffilm International Short Film Festival 2024
– Honorable mentions at festivals such as the 13th Delhi Shorts International Film Festival (India) and the 20th LesBiGayTrans International Film Festival 2024 (Paraguay)
