Aye Alfonso, a 21-year-old singer, won the latest edition of the popular talent show Factor X, marking a historic achievement for Paraguay as the first Paraguayan artist to win the hugely popular and prestigious televised talent competition.
Factor X, a global sensation known for its rigorous competition and high-caliber performers, has long been a stage where talent meets opportunity. Originating in the UK, where is was known as “The X Factor” and was one of the most-watched television shows for multiple years, the show has expanded internationally, becoming a launchpad for many stars. This year’s competition was no exception, with Aye Alfonso standing out for her extraordinary voice and charismatic stage presence.
Aye’s journey as a singer began in her homeland Paraguay
Ayelén Thaís Alfonso Ledesma, known to many as Aye Alfonso, was born on August 20, 2002, coinciding with the celebration of “Folklore Day.” As the daughter of Aníbal Alfonso, a key figure in Paraguay’s folk music scene and a member of “Los Alfonso,” and Lissy Ledesma, Aye inherited a rich musical legacy. Immersed in a musical environment from a young age, her passion for music blossomed early. By the age of eight, she was already singing and exploring various instruments.
Her breakthrough came when she won the country’s most important television singing contest, ‘Sing with Me Paraguay’. This win catapulted her to national fame and paved the way for her performance on the international stage.
Factor X: Winning the final stage
Aye’s decision to participate in the Spain’s Factor X has proved to be a pivotal moment in her career. From her first challenge on May 13, 2024, she impressed the judges—Vanesa Martín, Willy Bárcenas, Abraham Mateo, and Lali Espósito.
Abraham Mateo selected her for his team, and despite intense competition from Lali and Vanesa, Aye advanced to the finals as one of the most-voted contestants and ultimately emerged victorious.
