Culture, Art And Music At A New Edition Of “Embarcate” In The Port Of Asunción

The Port of Asunción will host a new edition of “Embarcate”, a cultural event that will bring together artistic, musical and gastronomic activities this Saturday, March 1, from 6pm to 10pm, with free admission for the general public.

The event, organised by the National Secretariat of Culture, with the support of the National Administration of Navigation and Ports (ANNP), at the Cultural Center of the Port of Asunción, the largest in the country, is a civic space dedicated to promoting art, culture and social integration. Its programming seeks to strengthen the cultural identity and the revaluation of the Historic Center of the Mother of Cities.

The agenda includes the Chacú Guaraní Fair, the participation of the National Folkloric Ballet, an Art and Crafts Fair, cinema, exhibitions, musical performances and tours of the port area.

During the day, visitors can visit the exhibition “Women in the Guasu War”, an exhibition that highlights the fundamental role of women during the war, from 9am to 10pm.

Likewise, at 6pm in the Central Hall, the National Folkloric Ballet of the National Secretariat of Culture will be present.

Embarcate’s Art and Crafts Fair

The event will include an Art and Crafts Fair, organised jointly with the Paraguayan Institute of Crafts, where local artists and creators will present their works.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the creations of outstanding artisans such as Mirtha Orihuela, with textile crafts; Mariela Benítez, with Yshir basketry; Eugenia Fernández, with ñandutí crafts.

Also, José Ismael Cristaldo, with colonial paintings; Lorenza Rojas, with filigree crafts and Gloria Hermosilla, with leather crafts.

Other independent exhibitors, Chiara Caligaris, Héctor Silva, Leila Samudio, Luis Araujo, Nat Martínez and Natalia Cáceres, will also be exhibiting their creations.

Embarcate’s Cinema, Literature and Musical Activities

Starting at 7pm, the Zeppelin Academy Students Concert will take place in the Amnesia space. At 7:30 p.m., the film Everybody Knows, directed by Asghar Farhadi, will be screened as part of the Women’s History Film Series.

The Chacu-Guaraní Book Fair will also be held as part of the event, offering attendees the opportunity to explore literary works that reflect Paraguay’s cultural identity.

Live music will continue with the group Mano Hermano, who will perform at 8:00 p.m., followed by La Tocatta, who will offer their show at 9:00 p.m.

Walks and Experiences 

From 6-8pm, visitors will be able to enjoy a tucu tucu ride around the bay of Asunción, at a cost of 10,000 guaraníes per person. Departures will be from Playa Montevideo.

Gastronomy will also be a fundamental part of this event, led by Koggi, according to the National Secretariat of Culture.
