According to official data from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), 1,051 foreign companies expressed interest in investing in Paraguay last year.
2024 stood out for its dynamism in the arrival of new investments within Paraguayan territory and the increase in exports of national manufactured goods. The Latin American country also managed to position itself on the international stage, attracting the attention of more foreign entrepreneurs.
It is worth mentioning that these figures result from missions conducted by state authorities, which aim to showcase the benefits Paraguay offers for investment and thus generate more job opportunities. It does not include companies interested investing in Paraguay that have not been in direct contact with the Paraguayan government about it.
Investing in Paraguay: Exports and inward investments
Special regimes played a key role last year in attracting investments, with the incentives of Law 60/90 and Maquila standing out. Together, they contributed to investments worth USD 514 million.
The Vice Ministry of Industry report indicates that 135 companies with projects approved under Law 60/90 were recorded, with investments totaling USD 411 million and projected jobs reaching 5,956 positions, marking a record in the last 20 years for jobs linked to this incentive.
Meanwhile, the maquila regime approved 36 projects in 2024, totaling USD 103 million in investments and projecting 2,054 jobs in the country. This incentive achieved historic export numbers, exceeding USD 1.1 billion in Paraguayan manufactured products sent to international markets.
Lots of new Paraguayan companies
2024 also saw a notable number of business openings, reaching 7,666. A significant portion of this number includes businesses opened under the Simplified Stock Company (EAS) modality, which reached 5,926.
This tool, implemented in the country since 2021, became one of the top choices for investors when landing their capital in Paraguay due to its speed and ease.
Additionally, 1,402 stock companies were opened, while 322 limited liability companies were registered, and 16 were opened under other legal structures.
