Teacher Gilda Ruiz de Segovia will be awarded the National Order of Merit in the Degree of Grand Cross during the ceremony scheduled for this Monday, November 11, at 7:00 p.m., at the Ignacio A. Pane Municipal Theater. It will be presided over by the President of the Republic, Santiago Peña, the First Lady of the Nation, Leticia Ocampos, and will be attended by the Minister of Culture, Adriana Ortiz.
The award represents one of the most prestigious distinctions granted by the Paraguayan State and is given on this occasion to Maestra Segovia, in recognition of her outstanding career and contribution to the education and culture of the country.
Gilda Ruiz de Segovia, a senior dance and music teacher, completed postgraduate studies in Paraguay and abroad, and taught at various institutions.
She was president of the Paraguayan Dance Council and worked as a supervisor and advisor in the Department of Cultural Diffusion of the Ministry of Education. Her awards include those granted by the Honorable Chamber of Deputies, the Municipality of Asunción and the Brazilian Dance Council.
During the ceremony, the documentary series Mborayhu Porã / Gilda Ruiz de Segovia will be presented, a production dedicated to highlighting the legacy of influential figures in Paraguayan culture.
This second episode honors Gilda’s work in education and in preserving Paraguay’s cultural and heritage values, especially those related to the Guaraní language and culture. The series is directed by Armando Aquino and produced by Tana Schémbori and Juan Carlos Maneglia, in collaboration with the Presidency of the Republic, the Office of the First Lady, the National Secretariat of Culture, Itaipu Binacional and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITIC).
