Aspiring students and professionals in Paraguay have until Tuesday, 31 March 2026, to apply for the Romanian Government Scholarship Programme for the 2026–2027 academic year. The initiative, managed by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, aims to promote higher education and international collaboration. Locally, the programme is promoted through the Ministry of Education and Science (MEC) and the National Scholarship Council.
The scholarships cover undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programmes in a variety of fields. Undergraduate and master’s courses are offered in Romanian, while doctoral programmes may be taken in English or another foreign language approved by the relevant doctoral school. This approach not only promotes the country’s language and culture but also provides international students with opportunities to study in a global environment.
Wide range of study options
Applicants can choose from a broad spectrum of courses offered by Romanian universities. Popular fields include Automotive Engineering, Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, Communication Sciences, and Computer Science. Also, Economics, Environmental Science, Law, and Visual Arts. Other available areas include Mathematics, Mechatronics and Robotics, Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, Sport and Physical Education. Additionally, Transport Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Urban Planning, among many others.
However, Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy are not available under this programme. For candidates who do not speak Romanian, a one-year preparatory course in the language is provided before formal enrolment. This ensures that students are fully prepared to engage with the academic curriculum while immersing themselves in Romanian culture.
How to apply and eligibility criteria
Applications must be submitted individually online via Study in Romania using the “Apply for the MFA Scholarships” option, or directly at the website. Required documents include diplomas, academic transcripts, birth certificate, passport, and a Curriculum Vitae. All application steps are clearly detailed on the platform to guide prospective applicants through the process.
Eligible candidates are expected to demonstrate strong academic performance. Specifically, applicants should have an average grade of at least seven in the final years of their most recent school according to the Romanian grading system, or a “good” grade as applicable. This ensures that scholarship recipients meet high academic standards and are prepared to succeed in their chosen programmes.

For more details on eligibility and programme requirements, applicants can consult the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website in English or in French. With the deadline approaching, interested applicants are encouraged to start preparing their documents as soon as possible.
