The Paraguayan Skating Confederation has launched free speed skating classes in the cities of Asunción and Luque for participants of all ages. Through this initiative, organisers aim to make the sport more accessible while promoting healthier and more active lifestyles. Both beginners and experienced skaters are welcome to take part in these structured sessions.
Classes for all ages and skill levels
Children, young people, and adults can join the free speed skating classes regardless of previous experience. Beginners can learn the basics, while experienced skaters can refine their skills. By offering free training, the Confederation hopes to attract new participants and strengthen the local skating community.
Classes will be at two main sports institutions in the metropolitan area. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, sessions take place at the Paraguayan Olympic Committee in Luque from 18:00 to 20:00. This evening schedule allows students and workers to attend after their daily responsibilities.
Meanwhile, additional sessions will be at the National Sports Secretariat (SND) in Asunción, on Saturdays from 10:00 to 12:00. Weekend classes offer flexibility for families and working adults. Together, the dual-location schedule ensures the programme is accessible to a wide audience.
Registration and equipment
All sessions of the free speed skating classes are led by specialised instructors, ensuring safe and structured training. Participants must complete a registration form and submit a medical certificate authorising physical activity. Participants must also provide a copy of a valid national identity card. For those under 18, a parent or legal guardian must submit their identity card. These measures follow standard safeguarding and organisational procedures.
Participants are expected to bring their own equipment. Essential items include roller skates and a protective helmet. Gloves, elbow pads, and knee pads are strongly recommended, while comfortable sportswear and proper hydration are advised.
