Exotic Plants Fair Brings Rare Green Treasures To Asunción

Plant lovers in Asunción will have a new reason to explore on Sunday, 25 January 2026, as plant nursery Flory hosts its second Exotic Plants Fair. The free event runs from 11:00 to 18:00 at Flory’s physical store, near J. F. Kennedy and 25 de Mayo. Visitors can enjoy specialty coffee, browse rare plants, and take home new additions for their collections.

Alongside the exhibition, shoppers who spend more than Gs. 500,000 (approximately US$75) will receive a complimentary seven-litre bag of premium substrate to support healthy plant growth. Free coffee will also be available between 14:00 and 16:00, adding to the relaxed weekend atmosphere.

A project built around exotic and collectible plants

The boutique plant nursery Flory has been operating for nearly two years and will celebrate its anniversary in March. The project specialises in exotic and collectible plants, offering online sales and a showroom with scheduled visits. Team member Monserrat Barros (32) explained that the concept intentionally avoids ordinary varieties.

“It is a project focused on exotic and collectible plants, nothing common,” Barros said. “We work with online sales mostly. By making an appointment, visitors can access the nursery.”

This is the second edition of the fair, following a successful first event held in January last year. Organisers decided to repeat the format because of its strong public response and the atmosphere it created.

“This is not the first time we have organised this fair. We are returning to this format because we truly believe in the experience, in bringing people together, and in how two worlds we love naturally merge: plants and coffee.”

Exotic species and local specialty coffee

Visitors will find a curated selection of exotic and collectible plants. These include monstera, philodendrons, and other tropical varieties. As well as accessible options for beginners.

“The public will find a selection of exotic and collectible plants, mainly from the araceae family. There will be more tropical plants, as well as easier options for those who are just starting.”

Prices range from Gs. 20,000 (approximately US$3) to Gs. 1,500,000 (approximately US$224), depending on species, size, and rarity. During the fair, the brand Antillas Café will provide specialty coffee made from locally roasted beans.

“We will have specialty coffee from a local roastery in Asunción that works with selected origin coffees roasted locally. We will also offer cold brew options to help with the heat.”

Open access and preview opportunities

The event is free and open to all visitors. According to the organisers, the goal is to encourage exploration rather than pressure to buy. In addition, those who prefer a quieter visit can book a preview session to explore the new arrivals calmly before the main fair.

“The fair takes place on Sunday from 11:00 until 18:00. However, on Saturday we will already have a preview for people who want to schedule a visit and explore everything in a more relaxed way.”

As Asunción continues to embrace specialty markets and creative experiences, events like the Exotic Plants Fair strengthen local entrepreneurship and community engagement. For every visitor, the fair offers an accessible way to discover rare plants while enjoying high-quality local coffee.
