Join Paraguay Gaelic Football Club At Multisport Showcase On Sunday After Historic First Season

On Sunday, 7 December 2025, the Cup Final tournament caps off an impressive inaugural season for Las Arpas (The Harps), the Paraguay Gaelic football association. While the event will determine the winner of Paraguay’s Gaelic football league, it will also feature a quick soccer game and disc golf demonstration: A multisport showcase where all are invited to attend, make friends, and even participate for the chance to win free beer and jerseys.

The event will be held at Paraguay’s national rugby stadium, Estadio Héroes de Curupayty, beginning at 18:00, and will feature a best-of-three game series between Los Elefantes (The Elephants) and Los Jaguaretés (The Jaguars) in short 15-minute games.

Free entry, and fan participation

Entry to the event is free for spectators, and will include multiple opportunities for fan participation. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from the stadium canteen. Alcoholic beverages will be available only at the end of the event (roughly 20:30), due to Paraguayan Olympic Committee restrictions. Everyone is invited to celebrate the year that was for Las Arpas.

The multisport showcase event will kick off with a 30-minute football match between a local Paraguayan club and a team of expats. Afterwards, a quick introduction to Gaelic football will be given for the fans, followed by Game 1 of the Gaelic football final.

Gaelic football is a sport of Irish origin that includes elements of regular football, rugby, handball, and basketball. After Game 1, a short disc golf demonstration will be given, where fans will be allowed to participate. Following that will be Game 2 of the Gaelic football final.

Multisport showcase: Winning jerseys and free beers

After the second game, spectators will have an opportunity to win a Paraguay Gaelic football jersey and free beer by showcasing their kicking skills. There will be a mens and ladies competition with participation open to all in attendance.

Finally, Game 3 of the Cup Final will be held to close out the evening. At the end of the event beer sales will begin, and all are welcome to join the players, families, and friends in the stadium for post-game festivities.

Started from the bottom

The Paraguay Gaelic football team has a sort of Jamaican bobsled team story to it. Started just over a year ago by a guy from Thailand, the club went on to host the very first international Gaelic football match in Paraguay in May. What followed in November was 3rd place in the Almirante Brown Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the largest ever Gaelic football tournament in South America.

“The growth has been nothing short of a miracle,” says Mozz Suraphot, the club’s founder. “We grew from less than 10 players into a club of over 30 players, with more than 15 of those players now being certified Gaelic football coaches at the introductory level.”

“Players becoming best friends”

Mozz thinks the strong sense of community within the club has led to its impressive growth and early success.

“What makes Las Arpas unique is our strong member-driven culture that allows our players to take part in shaping the club and sharing their ideas. In fact, many of our players have become best friends.”

Wanna join?

If you are interested in joining this welcoming community, contact Las Arpas on Instagram, or send a message to club president Giovani Teixeira at +595 972 237 4321. The team practices twice per week and players of all skill levels are welcome to join.

The club is actively recruiting players to join their friendly community, and perhaps to help them compete internationally in Argentina, and overseas. Apart from Mozz, who played Gaelic football in Thailand, none of the current members had any Gaelic football experience before joining Las Arpas.
