Paraguay’s very own Erika Alarcón Anisimoff has done it again! The world-renowned roller-skating star has brought home the gold from the Pan American Championships in Buenos Aires. Erika, a firm favourite in the Solo Dance category, absolutely shone and secured her third consecutive continental title. This momentous achievement made Paraguay proud.
24-year-old Erika Alarcón Anisimoff was born in Ciudad del Este, and has been making steady progress in her career. At the 2023 Artistic Skating World Championships in Ibagué, Colombia, she achieved a historic milestone as the first Paraguayan to win a World Championship medal, securing third place in the Senior Ladies Solo Dance event. After her latest triump in Argentina, she has become the first Paraguayan roller skater to complete the prestigious Pan American Hat-Trick, winning gold.
And the good news does not stop there! Fellow Paraguayan skaters also put on magnificent performances.
More Paraguayan skating triumphs
In the same Solo Dance category, Paloma Garcia brought home a silver medal. The Paraguayan team also saw golden performances from César Caballeró in the Solo Dance Cadet Men’s category and Cessia González, in the Free Dance Youth Ladies’ category. Sara Bogado, also competing in the Free Dance Youth Ladies’ category, earned a bronze medal.
The first gold medal of the day was secured by Biabella Diéguez in the Solo Dance Ladies Tots category. This fantastic series of wins means that the talented Paraguayan team brought home a total of four gold medals, a silver, and a bronze. The team achieved two double podium finishes – a truly remarkable feat.
Junior Pan American Games in Asunción
These impressive results are incredibly encouraging as we look towards the upcoming Asu 2025 Junior Pan American Games. Roller skating is one of the disciplines in which Paraguay has high hopes for success. These games will mark a significant milestone for Paraguay, representing the largest international multi-sport event of Olympic calibre ever hosted in the country’s sporting history.
