South Korea-Paraguay Partnership Elevated With Fresh KOIMA-Rediex Pact

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Korea Importers Association (KOIMA) and Paraguay’s Vice Ministry of the Investment and Export Network (Rediex). The agreement was signed by Youn Young Mi, representative of KOIMA and Javier Viveros, Vice Minister of Rediex. The aim is to foster technological collaboration, investment, and bilateral trade between Paraguay and South Korea.

Goal of the partnership between KOIMA and Rediex

This memorandum establishes that both KOIMA and Rediex commit to promoting industrial cooperation and technology transfer in key areas such as energy, manufacturing, food, and clean technologies. This new trade relation also aims to promote business missions and international trade fairs that bring Paraguayan products closer to the Korean market. Furthermore, it seeks to simplify the exchange of trade and investment information between companies in both countries.

During the signing ceremony, Rediex Vice Minister Viveros emphasised that Paraguay and South Korea share a history of progress and resilience: “This agreement inaugurates a new period of economic collaboration based on trust, sustainable progress, and innovation,” he said.

For her part, the KOIMA representative emphasised that Paraguay is a strategic gateway to Mercosur. The country is also a reliable partner for South Korean companies with interests in South America.

South Korea and Paraguay relations

South Korea and Paraguay have many ties and connections. Apart from the KOIMA-Rediex connection, the partnerships are mostly in the cultural, industrial, and working sectors. In 2025, a group of ten Paraguayan technicians gained practical expertise as part of a specialised auto parts training programme in South Korea. The goal was to enhance Paraguay’s role within the international supply chain for automotive and electric mobility components.

In October 2025, The Paraguay-Korea High-Level Technological Center (CTA) celebrated its tenth anniversary. This highlights a decade of significant contributions to innovation and technical training. The Paraguay-Korea Tech Centre milestone underscores the strengthening of cooperative ties between South Korea and Paraguay. This partnership fosters advancements in technology and professional development.
