The performance is scheduled for 27 August at the Sambódromo, a purpose-built parade ground, in the city of Encarnación. Ricardo Deggeller, the Deputy General Director of the Rally del Paraguay, confirmed the news during an interview on state televison. The inclusion of Kchiporros aims to transform the event’s opening into a large-scale public celebration, blending high-octane sport with popular entertainment.
Ambitious goals for the 2026 edition
Organisers are working to cement the Rally del Paraguay as one of the most significant dates on the global motorsport calendar. According to Deggeller, the strategy involves expanding both the competitive elements and the public activities surrounding the race. He highlighted that the core objective is to deliver a more substantial and engaging experience for competitors and fans alike.
“The goal is to achieve a longer event with more days of activities.” Deggeller explained that this year’s competition will feature 356 kilometres of special stages. This figure represents a notable increase from the previous edition. Consequently, it positions the Paraguayan event among the most extensive and demanding rallies in the entire World Rally Championship, promising a greater challenge for the world’s best drivers.
Projecting significant economic and tourism impact
The anticipated growth of the event is reflected in the organisation’s official projections. For the 2026 edition, an influx of around 70,000 foreign visitors is expected. Furthermore, total participation throughout the week is forecast to exceed 400,000 people. This surge in attendance is predicted to generate an economic impact that could surpass US$200 million.
These figures would again establish the rally as one of the most important sporting and tourism events in Paraguay’s history. Deggeller emphasised that a total of 42 public institutions are currently collaborating directly on the planning and execution of the event.
