Paraguayan beef exports totaled over 90 million kilograms between January and March of this year, an extraordinary volume compared to previous periods, according to the records of the National Service for Animal Health and Quality (Senacsa).
As shown in Senacsa’s records, the 90,615,074 kilograms of beef exported between January and March this year surpassed the exports of the same period last year by 31% and 75%, and they exceeded the first-quarter volumes of 2019 by 75%.
This growth is also reflected in the value of exports, which in the first quarter reached more than 509 million dollars. This value represents a 53% increase compared to the first three months of last year.
Chile remains the top buyer of Paraguayan beef in the destination markets. However, its share of the total volume has decreased from 40% to approximately 30% over the past year. Taiwan came in second, with over 11 million kilograms consumed in the first quarter, followed by the United States, which imported over 10 million kilograms.
Israel and Brazil are in fourth and fifth place, with 9.4 million kilograms and 4.8 million kilograms, respectively.
Canada is another market that has gained prominence recently. It currently ranks seventh among the leading destinations for Paraguayan beef exports, just behind Russia.
Earlier this year, Paraguayan pork exports also reached a new high, with a 75% growth rate in 2024 vs 2023.
