Paraguay’s meat industry has taken another step forward in its global expansion, as the Philippines has authorised the importation of Paraguayan beef, pork, and poultry. The decision followed a detailed inspection process confirming that the country complies with strict international standards of food safety and animal health.
Philippine market
The authorisation allows Paraguayan producers to supply meat to the Philippines, a Southeast Asian nation with more than 115 million people and a growing demand for animal protein. The move is seen as a sign of confidence in Paraguay’s livestock industry and in its ability to maintain rigorous sanitary measures.
The process was completed after an audit carried out by the Philippine National Meat Inspection Service, which evaluated slaughterhouses, cold storage facilities, and certification procedures across Paraguay. Inspectors worked in coordination with the National Service for Quality and Animal Health (SENACSA), the Paraguayan authority responsible for food safety and animal health.
Rigorous standards recognised
SENACSA underlined that this achievement reflects Paraguay’s long-term efforts to improve inspection systems, raise safety standards, and guarantee full traceability throughout the production chain. Officials stressed that both the public and private sectors have contributed to building a reputation of reliability in demanding international markets.
By gaining access to the Philippines, Paraguay consolidates its standing as a trustworthy supplier in Asia and demonstrates its readiness to meet the requirements of markets with strict controls.
Expanding Paraguayan meat export horizons
Paraguay now exports meat to more than sixty countries worldwide. In recent years, access has been secured to markets such as the United States, Taiwan, and Israel, creating a more diversified network of buyers. This diversification reduces risks for producers and enhances opportunities for economic growth.
The Philippines, with its rising consumption of beef and pork and the central role of meat in its diet, is considered a promising trade partner. Analysts point out that Paraguayan exports to this market will not only support growth at home but also strengthen diplomatic and commercial relations abroad.
Looking ahead
Exporters are currently finalising certification and logistical arrangements, with the first shipments expected before the end of the year. This opening adds to recent milestones in other parts of Asia. Taiwan has approved new Paraguayan meat-processing plants, Singapore has become a fresh destination for Paraguayan beef, and Japanese equipment has been introduced to reinforce national food safety systems.
With these developments, Paraguay continues to expand its presence in global markets, positioning itself as a competitive and reliable supplier of high-quality meat.
