Palma Street will host the Palmear Fair in Asunción on Saturday, 30 August 2025, in a special edition titled “Palmeando con Guaranias”. The event will run from 11:00 to 23:00, transforming four pedestrian blocks into a vibrant hub of music, dance, crafts, and gastronomy.
Paraguayan music genre Guarania celebebrates 100 years since its creation by José Asunción Flores in 1925. It captures the nation’s soul with its slow, melancholic rhythms blending Guarani and Spanish influences. Last week, Paraguay celebrated 100 years of Guarania music with a national festival In Encarnación.
A full day of activities
The artistic programme commences at 11:00 with a performance by the Asunción Senior Citizens’ Folk Ballet, followed by Anguiru and the Galoperas de Punta Karapa. At midday, the National Symphony Orchestra will present its Chamber Ensemble, followed by the Arpa de Papel group and the Folk Ensemble. The afternoon will feature the Dance Company of the Superior Institute of Fine Arts, the Formosa Ensemble from Argentina, and the National Symphony Orchestra’s Fusion Ensemble.
At 18:00, the National Police Band will give a performance, and the evening will conclude with the OSN’s Symphonic Staff, presenting a special performance at the National Pantheon of Heroes from 19:00 to 20:30.

A wide array of food and drink options will also be available, including gourmet hot dogs, fresh juices, typical Paraguayan dishes, Venezuelan arepas, Mexican tacos, Neapolitan-style pizzas, hamburgers, vegan options, and traditional Paraguayan fare. Bars offering cocktails, craft beer, and local beverages will complement the culinary offerings.
Family-friendly activities
A designated ‘Zona Pet’s’ area will be located on Palma and Chile streets, featuring animal shelters and pet accessory stalls. The Heroes’ Square will offer a mobile clinic and ambulance service provided by the Ministry of Health, while the O’Leary Square will host the Lince Group.
The Staudt building will open its doors with a book fair, art workshops for children, poetry readings, and caricature artists. The Port Cultural Centre will host a photographic exhibition, and the National Tourism Secretariat will run workshops titled “Creating to the rhythm of the Guarania”.
Children will also have their own dedicated space with static games, tables for drawing and painting, coordinated by the Ministry of Childhood and Adolescence. Various brand activations with family-friendly activities will also take place throughout the day.
