The Municipal Art Institute Opens Registrations For Various Classes – Register Now!

The Municipal Institute of Art (IMA) has announced the opening of registrations for the 2025 period in its various art schools – and you have the chance to participate! With a wide range of disciplines, the IMA offers training in music, dance, theater, voice-over and visual arts, consolidating itself as a benchmark in Paraguay’s artistic education.

The Agustin Barrios Music Conservatory

For those interested in music, the Agustín Barrios Music Conservatory offers the opportunity to learn a variety of instruments, including Paraguayan harp, saxophone, clarinet, transverse flute, oboe, drums, electric bass, percussion, folk singing, violin, viola, cello, double bass, classical and popular piano, as well as classical, popular and electric guitar.

On Monday, February 24th at 5pm there will be a mandatory admissions talk, and classes will be held in the afternoon, with schedules to be established according to the instrument. The age for beginners is between 7 and 17 years old. Those interested should send an email to ima.conservatorioagustinbarrios@gmail.com with their information.

The Municipal School of Singing

Applicants to the Municipal School of Singing must make an appointment via email at ima.escuelamunicipaldecanto@gmail.com before February 23, and participate in admission interviews on February 24 and 25. Classes will be held from Monday to Friday from 5pm to 8pm. The minimum age to participate in the course is 15 years old.

Children’s Art School

Aimed at children from 6 to 10 years old, the Children’s Art School will open its admission process from February 17 to March 7. Interviews with parents or guardians can be requested by sending an email to ima.arteinfantil@gmail.com. Classes will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays or Wednesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Maria Elena Sachero Theatre Workshop

The children’s and youth theater workshop, aimed at young people from 11 to 17 years old, will offer admission interviews from February 17 to March 7. To schedule them, send an email to ima.tallerdeteatro@gmail.com. Class hours will be Monday and Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Municipal School of Dance

Auditions for the Municipal Dance School will be held from February 24 to 26 from 3pm to 5pm. For classical and Paraguayan dance, boys and girls between 7 and 10 years old can apply, and those 11 years old and older can audition for contemporary dance. Registrations must be made by February 23 via email to ima.escuelamunicipaldedanzas@gmail.com.

Municipal School of Dramatic Arts “Roque Centurión Miranda” (EMAD)

For those interested in dramatic art , admission interviews will be held from February 25 to 28. Registration will be open until February 24 via email to  ima.escueladeartedramatico@gmail.com . Classes will be held from Monday to Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and the minimum requirement is to have a high school certificate, endorsed by the Ministry of Education and Science (MEC).

Radio and television announcer

Admission interviews for the voice-over course will be held on March 5 and 6 at 7:00 p.m. Those interested should send an email to ima.escuelamunicipaldelocucion@gmail.com with their full name and contact information. Classes for this course, which lasts three years, will be held from Monday to Friday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and applicants must present a certified copy of their high school certificate, endorsed by the Ministry of Education and Science (MEC).

Municipal Art Institute: Fees and requirements

The annual tuition fee for almost all courses is G. 451,000, with the possibility of splitting up to two payments. The theater workshop has an annual tuition fee of G. 200,000.

All courses require the presentation of the following documents for enrollment:

  • 2 photocopies of identity card
  • Certificate of life and residence
  • Health certificate (indicating underlying diseases or disabilities, if applicable)
  • Pay the annual registration fee on a stamped paper (which costs G. 6,000)

In addition, all classes will be held at the headquarters of the Municipal Art Institute (IMA), located in Asunción on Pdte. Franco and Montevideo, at the times previously specified.
