Ipswich Town has officially announced the return of Paraguayan forward Julio Enciso for his second spell at the club. The signing was confirmed through a video released on the team’s social media channels.
The club from Ipswich, which has returned to the top flight of English football for the 2026 season, has made a significant investment in the player. The transfer from French club Racing Strasbourg is valued at approximately US$35 million, a fee that includes performance-related add-ons and a future sale clause.
A historic contract signing
Enciso, known as La Joya (The Jewel), has successfully completed his medical examination. Consequently, he will sign a five-year contract with Ipswich Town. This move establishes him as the most expensive Paraguayan footballer in history.
In a message to the fans, Enciso shared his excitement about rejoining the club. He expressed his eagerness to get back on the pitch and connect with the supporters.
“It is a pleasure to be back at this incredible club. I cannot wait to see you at the stadium. Come on Ipswich!,” the Paraguayan forward wrote.
Ipswich will begin their Premier League campaign on Saturday, 22 August, with an 11:00 PYT kick-off against Sunderland. The match could see Enciso face his Paraguay national teammate, defender Omar Alderete.
Previous Premier League experience
Enciso is already familiar with the Premier League, having previously played for Ipswich Town on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion. Across his time with both clubs, he has made a total of 57 appearances in the league, scoring 6 goals and providing 7 assists.
During his tenure at Brighton, he played in 44 matches, scoring 4 goals and making 4 assists. Furthermore, in his initial 13-game loan spell with Ipswich, he contributed 2 goals and 3 assists.
Julio Enciso, a Caaguazú treasure
Enciso started playing football at his local club in Caaguazú, Paraguay. At age 12 he was recruited by Libertad. Enciso made his senior debut for Club Libertad on 17 March 2019, aged 15, against Deportivo Santaní, becoming the youngest player to debut with Libertad.
