Accelerating Bitcoin (Acelerando Bitcoin), Paraguay’s first Bitcoin-only conference, opens its second edition at Paseo La Galería on 12 and 13 August, bringing together more than 70 speakers from across the world to discuss mining, regulation, artificial intelligence and the country’s growing role as a regional cryptocurrency hub. The second Accelerating Bitcoin event is organised by Bitcoin Paraguay, a non-profit community that promotes the Bitcoin network through education, networking and circular economies.
From one edition to eight thematic tracks
The first Accelerating Bitcoin, held in September 2025, was a milestone in itself: the country’s inaugural event dedicated exclusively to Bitcoin, which drew attendees and speakers from more than 20 countries.
This second Accelerating Bitcoin conference expands considerably on that debut. Organisers have structured the programme around eight thematic tracks, spanning mining and energy, regulation, artificial intelligence, community building, and what speakers describe as “flag theory”, the practice of spreading assets, residency and business activities across different jurisdictions.
Rather than a series of one-way presentations, the format is built around direct exchange between attendees and speakers over the two days, with panels, workshops and networking sessions running throughout.
Why Paraguay keeps attracting attention
Paraguay’s appeal to the Bitcoin industry rests largely on its energy supply. The country generates its electricity almost entirely from hydropower, drawing on the Itaipú and Yacyretá dams, which gives it some of the cheapest and cleanest power available anywhere for energy-intensive activities such as cryptocurrency mining.
That advantage, combined with a favourable tax environment and Paraguay’s 2025 credit rating upgrade to investment grade, has helped position the country as one of Latin America’s most attractive destinations for mining operations and Bitcoin-related businesses.
Organisers point to a wider surge in local activity to justify the event’s growth. Since the start of the year, they say, the Asunción area has hosted more than 23 Bitcoin-related meet-ups and events, alongside more than 40 mentions in national and international press, a growing number of local businesses accepting Bitcoin payments, and more than 45,000 applications for temporary residency.
The first edition’s impact reportedly extended well beyond the two days of talks. In public comments, Bruno Vaccotti, one of the event’s co-founders, has said that more than 160 of the foreign attendees who travelled to Asunción in 2025 went on to begin residency applications in Paraguay, and that organisers were subsequently invited to present the country’s experience at eight international conferences elsewhere in the world.
Accelerating Bitcoin’s speaker line-up

Among those confirmed to speak this year are Ignacio Pauls, chief commercial officer of the Bitcoin mining pool OCEAN; Roman Martínez of Bitcoin Beach, the El Salvador community credited with pioneering grassroots Bitcoin adoption; and Napoleón Osorio, the Salvadoran entrepreneur behind Bitdriver, a ride-hailing service that runs on Bitcoin payments. Also on the agenda are Gabriel Lamas of mining company HIVE, Stelios Rammos of crowdfunding platform Geyser, and Bruno Vaccotti of Voltaje, one of the event’s co-founders.
The programme also features economists, lawyers and educators, reflecting organisers stated aim of making the conference accessible to newcomers as well as specialists already working in the industry.
