Confirmed: Starting June 2026, GOL Will Offer Flights From Asunción To Miami

IGOL Líneas Aéreas has announced the launch of an exclusive new non-stop international route between Asunción and Miami. Operation is scheduled to begin in early June 2026. The official date is subject to approval by Paraguay’s airport authority, the DINAC. The Asunción-Miami route will be featuring four weekly return frequencies. The new non-stop flights will provide a boost for tourism and business development between the countries.

The official announcement followed a meeting on 12 February 2026 at Mburuvicha Róga, the presidential residence. The meeting was held in between GOL executives and the President of Paraguay, Santiago Peña. The company’s statement was released by the Ambassador to the United States, Gustavo Leite. He initiated the negotiations to enable GOL’s expanded operations in Paraguay.

“A great moment”

“The Asunción-Miami route represents a significant step forward in GOL’s international network,” states Celso Ferrer, CEO of GOL. “We are listening to the demands of Paraguayans for a direct connection to the United States. This route will attract investment and boost the region’s economy.”

President Santiago Peña adds: “Today we celebrate a great moment for Paraguay. GOL’s direct flights will further boost our economy with new business and tourism opportunities.”

Certification and strategic context

The resumption of this direct route to and from Miami come after it was suspended since 2021. The long-term project was made possible with the collaboration of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA). They certified earlier this year that Silvio Pettirossi International Airport meets the required conditions to operate direct flights to North America. Furthermore, the Paraguayan National Civil Aviation Directorate (DINAC) is currently aiming to achieve Category 1 status from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The service will provide the only direct air link between Paraguay and the United States. Asunción is now considered a key passenger hub in the Southern Cone, and Miami, a major financial centre with easy access to Orlando and Disney. This route will be the longest ever operated by GOL’s Boeing 737 MAX, covering approximately 6,154 KMs with an estimated flight duration of 8 hours. While they are focusing on Miami, which they were connected to before, it opens the door for more flights to North America.
