Museum Of Economy in Asunción Welcomes Visitors All Through Summer Holidays

As many visitors take advantage of the summer holidays in January, the Paraguayan Museum of Economy is welcoming the public. Those wishing to understand and appreciate Paraguay from an economic perspective can explore the country’s economic history at the museum. The venue is designed to promote culture and education. Located in downtown Asunción, the museum offers free admission.

Culture and education for days

The Museum is open from Monday to Saturday, between 10:00 and 16:00, and will remain open to the public throughout the whole month. The museum is inside the historic Palacio Alegre, home to the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The venue offers an experience open to everyone, with cultural and educational activities to enjoy during the holiday period.

Since its inauguration in August 2024, the Museum has welcomed educational institutions and national and international delegations. As well as members of the general public interested in understanding Paraguay’s economic development in a clear and accessible way.

Exploring the Paraguayan Museum of Economy

The exhibitions are organised into four sections: economic history, the current economy, future prospects, and an institutional perspective on the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). The Museum provides a dynamic and enriching experience by combining interactive digital resources, historic documents and antique furnishings.

Throughout the Museum, visitors will find guides positioned above the exhibitions, narrating and explaining the collections on display. This chronological guide encourages greater appreciation of the original documents and machinery exhibited. Loans and donations from other institutions are also on display.

In addition to the exhibitions, the museum houses the library of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, which is open to the public. The library contains bibliographic material collected from various MEF sources, as well as from the former Technical Secretariat of Planning. The venue also features a display of Paraguayan currency through the years and includes an auditorium.

A commitment to Paraguay

The museum was declared a matter of cultural interest by the National Secretariat of Culture. As Paraguay’s first Museum of Economy, it is not only an exhibition space but also a commitment to education, transparency, and the future of Paraguay’s economy. This project serves to promote financial knowledge and highlight the value of Paraguay’s historic national heritage.
