Agustín Franco, a 26-year-old model, actor, and student of international relations from the city of Quiindy in the Paraguarí Department of Paraguay, around 100 kilometers from Asunción. has been officially chosen to represent Paraguay at the Mister Tourism World 2025 competition.
The international pageant, which celebrates tourism promotion, leadership, and cultural exchange, will take place in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from 5 to 12 February 2026. Contestants from various countries serve as ambassadors for their nations’ heritage, natural attractions, and sustainable tourism practices. They will be participating in events such as national costume presentations, talent competitions, and eco-friendly activities.
Franco’s ambitions at Mister Tourism World 2025
Passionate about travel, culture, and sustainability, Franco aims to use the platform to highlight Paraguay’s natural beauty, ecotourism opportunities, and Guaraní traditions. His advocacy focuses on authentic hospitality and responsible tourism, he says, aligning closely with the core philosophy of Mister Tourism World.
“Representing Paraguay is a privilege that fills me with humility,” Franco states. “I am immensely proud to carry our flag and show the world what an extraordinary country we have: a hidden gem that is vibrant, welcoming, and brimming with stunning beauty.”
Paraguay’s tourism on the rise
Earlier in 2025, Paraguay showed to be the country with the highest tourism growth, as per the World Tourism Barometer of United Nations Tourism. In the first quarter of 2025, the nation recorded a remarkable 53% increase compared to the prior year. The top three countries in the tourism rankings are exclusively South American, with Brazil and Chile each achieving a notable 48% growth.
The World Tourism Barometer is a publication by UN Tourism, a specialised agency of the United Nations focused on promoting responsible, sustainable, and universally accessible tourism.
