Ciudad Mujer Móvil (Mobile City Woman) has concluded its 2025 season after bringing essential state services to almost 20,000 women and their families across 74 districts. The programme, led by the Ministry of Women and supported by the Office of the First Lady and around 20 public institutions, marked its closing event in Caraguatay, Cordillera.
Ciudad Mujer Móvil is a government programme in Paraguay consisting of mobile units (adapted trucks/vehicles) that bring comprehensive, free and quality services to women, girls and adolescents in rural communities, neighbourhoods and hard-to-reach areas. Throughout the year, the programme travelled nationwide to offer health care, financial support, technical aids, job tools, and seed capital.
Bringing opportunities to communities
First Lady Leticia Ocampos, who was present at the closing event, emphasised that the initiative strengthens both opportunity and autonomy for women in vulnerable situations.
“This programme allows us to bring services, opportunities, and concrete responses to women across the country, especially to those who need them most. Each visit offered health, credit, technical aids, work tools, seed capital, and above all, the opportunity to grow, undertake, move forward, and transform dreams into reality.”
Paraguay’s Minister for Women, Alicia Pomata, also highlighted the joint effort behind the project. She thanked the institutions involved and stressed the tangible progress achieved. “We conclude the 2025 programme with the certainty that every step taken has represented an advance towards autonomy, safety, and the well-being of all Paraguayan women,” Pomata stated.
Support for entrepreneurial families
During the closing ceremony, President Santiago Peña also led the handover of seed capital to 136 entrepreneurial families. Through the Tenonderá programme, executed by the Ministry of Social Development, these families will be able to generate their own income and strengthen local economies.
Additional support came from several institutions. The Crédito Agrícola de Habilitación and the Banco Nacional de Fomento provided investment capital, while Senadis delivered medical supplies. The National Service for Professional Promotion (SNPP) distributed work tools to women who completed professional training courses.
Activities for young people
Beyond financial and technical assistance, the event also included activities for children. The Ministry for Children offered drawing, painting, and games for young attendees, along with a donation from the #BancoDeJuguetes initiative to ensure that children in Caraguatay could take part in the celebration.
Earlier this year the Ciudad Mujer – Ñande Kerayvoty Renda Center celebrated seven years since its creation, and now closes a year marked by expanded access, community presence and continued commitment to improving the lives of women and their families throughout Paraguay.
