Art, History, And Community Unite: This Was Paraguay’s Museum Night 2025!

Paraguay experienced one of its most vibrant cultural evenings during the 9th edition of the Museum Night, a large-scale event that brought together nearly one hundred institutions across the country. Organised by the The Night of the Museums Association – Paraguay, Museum Night 2025 reaffirmed its position as the most extensive and simultaneously coordinated cultural programme in the nation, inviting thousands of visitors to rediscover historical, artistic, and community spaces through a single, shared celebration.

A nationwide route that connected people

From the capital Asunción to the heart of the Chaco, the event offered free access to museums, historical buildings, cultural centres, artistic venues, and public institutions. Each space prepared a unique experience aimed at fostering appreciation for Paraguayan identity and collective memory.

In the historic centre of Asunción, the Manzana de la Rivera emerged as one of the focal points of the evening. Celebrating its thirtieth anniversary, the complex presented a diverse programme that included guided routes, heritage discussions, musical presentations, and several exhibitions that explored the evolution of the city.

Nearby landmarks such as the Government Palace, the National Pantheon of the Heroes, the Casa de la Independencia Museum, the Museum of Justice, and the Numismatic Museum of the Central Bank welcomed a continuous stream of visitors interested in historical and institutional heritage.

Cultural immersion and thematic journeys

Museum Night 2025 was marked by a strong emphasis on immersive and participatory activities. The National Secretariat of Tourism offered a cultural experience that combined traditional gastronomy, folk dance, artisan showcases, and promotional initiatives designed to highlight tourism within the country.

At the Cultural Centre of the Republic (El Cabildo), attendees encountered exhibitions and performances focused on national identity, memory, and artistic expression. In the Chaco, museums and community institutions placed particular emphasis on indigenous heritage, artisanal traditions, and the historical development of the region.

Meanwhile, in the Central department, spaces such as the Historical and Cultural Centre of the Municipality of Luque, the Historical Museum of Itauguá, and the Hassler House hosted concerts, photographic collections, guided tours, and exhibitions that reflected local cultural richness.

Key aspects of Paraguayan freemasonry, and South American football

A notable novelty of the evening was the participation of the Grand Symbolic Lodge of Paraguay, which opened its doors to the public with tours that explored symbolic objects, historical documents, and key aspects of Paraguayan freemasonry.

The South American Football Museum, part of the CONMEBOL complex, also joined the event by offering access to original trophies, historical artefacts, and interactive rooms that traced the development of football in the region. Visitors explored emblematic moments in South American sport while engaging with contemporary audiovisual installations.

Museum Night 2025: A celebration that continues to grow

The 9th edtion of the Night of Museums demonstrated once again the value of bringing cultural heritage closer to the public through an inclusive and collaborative format. The organisers expressed their intention to further expand participation from regional communities in future editions and to continue strengthening digital engagement so that more people may experience the event regardless of their location.

With a remarkable turnout, an extensive and varied programme, and the incorporation of new institutions, this edition stood out as a true cultural milestone, offering an evening in which history, memory, and creativity converged across the country.
