Brian’s story as an elite athlete is one of extraordinary personal transformation. At 18 years old, he weighed 103 kg (227 pounds), and was looking for a way to change his sedentary lifestyle. Now, Brian weight 67 kilograms (147 pounds). Pasmor said that he started to run because he realised, he was not living a healthy lifestyle. Running was a way for him to maintain an ideal weight. Over time, ultra running became his passion.

Between 2024 and 2025, Brian Pasmor won three competitions organised by Backyard Ultra in Paraguayan soil. Those ultra-running events were held in Piribebuy, Asunción and in San Juan del Paraná, in Itapúa. In every competition, he pushed his body to physical extremes. He often ran for over 24 hours, under brutal physical and mental conditions.

All the Backyard Ultra races can count on substantial emotional and logistical support. Despite difficult conditions, Brian has the support of his family.

“My sister and my mom always come with me. After each turn, they are waiting for me with extra hydration, food and the most important thing, motivation to keep going,” he expresses.

Thanks to his achievements and commitment to the competition, Brian Pasmor obtained his passport and visa to officially represent Paraguay in the world championship.

A brutal and fascinating race

Backyard Ultra racing was designed by Gary Cantrell, known by the mythical name of Lazarus Lake. Lazarus is also linked with the Barkley Marathons. The format he created requires participants to complete a circuit of 6,706 km every hour. Whoever does not finish in time, is not allowed to continue. The competition continues until there is only one person left running. The Last Man Standing. “The last person to complete one loop within the time limit is the winner. The rest belongs to the DNF (Did Not Finish) category,” explains Patricia Ascarza, coordinator of the Paraguayan edition.

Ascarza’s Ulala Backyard Ultra 2025 was declared an event of interest by Senatur in recognition of tourism active promotion. The Department of Tourism solemnly declared it through the Resolution N. 739 on 13 June 2025.

The first official edition of the Backyard Ultra in Paraguay was organised on 15 August 2025. The event was held in San Bernardino at the Club Náutico Puerta del Lago. This global event showcase some of the most talented and disciplined runners in the country, like Brian Pasmor. The event will also be held in 2026 and more information will follow. “I run to demonstrate that everyone has the ability to change their lives,” he concludes.
