FIT 2025 Tourism Fair: 20,000 Visitors In Buenos Aires Learn About Paraguayan Offerings

At the Latin American International Tourism Fair (FIT 2025) in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Paraguay positioned itself as one of the major players in the industry. The Paraguayan slogan “Energy That Connects,” aimed at comprehensive offering that combines innovation, tradition, and hospitality. The national stand attracted more than 20,000 visitors.

The stand had a unique multisensory experience, combining culture, gastronomy, connectivity, and sustainability. More than 17,000 samples of typical dishes, such as vorí vorí, sopa paraguaya, chipa guazú, mbejú, traditional desserts, and many more were shared with visitors. Cocktails were also offered in collaboration with a Buenos Aires-based restaurant.

A virtual visit of the Jesuit Missions

One of the biggest attractions was the immersive booth. More than 3,000 people virtually visited the Jesuit Missions of Paraguay. The most popular destinations among visitors were Asunción, the Golden Circuit, the Sugarcane Route, Itapúa, Alto Paraná, and the Paraguayan Chaco. The goal was to promote cultural and religious tourism.

FIT 2025 brought together representatives from 51 countries. The event had 135,042 visitors, of whom 92,104 were general public, and 42,938 were industry professionals. In total, 7,445 business meetings were held, confirming the success of the fair. On 10 October 2025, Paraguay organised the FITPAR 2025 Fair in Asunción, gathering tourism leaders for its 20th edition.

The Paraguayan mission to FIT 2025

Minister of Tourism Angie Duarte developed an intense institutional and promotional agenda during the event. Her role was to consolidate the country’s presence in one of the most important tourism destinations on the continent. During the fair, she held a strategic meeting with the Secretary-General-elect of UN Tourism, Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais. Minister Duarte reaffirmed Paraguay’s commitment to a sustainable, inclusive, and innovative tourism model.

Among the topics discussed were the possible establishment of a tourism training centre in Paraguay and the Tourism Investment Guide. The promotion of the Jesuit Way as a regional cultural development initiative was also discussed.

In addition, the Paraguayan Tourist Information Centre in Buenos Aires was inaugurated. This office is located in the Cultural Centre of the Paraguayan Embassy. The space constitutes a historic milestone that will allow the promotion of the national identity. Additionally, the Cultural Centre will promote tourism offerings in the competitive Argentine market.

Business and strategy

Paraguay took advantage of its presence at the FIT 2025. The government used the event as a platform for trade and diplomatic opportunities. More than 450 business meetings were held between tour operators, travel agencies, and hotel companies.

Among the results, the interest of a major European operator in developing a strategic alliance with Paraguay stood out. Furthermore, the engagement of Caribbean operators interested in participating in future editions of FITPAR was noticed.

Air connectivity as a means to grow tourism

As announced previously, Flybondi confirmed the start of five weekly flights between Asunción and Córdoba, Argentina. The first flight of this route is offered for 12 December. The company also started in August 2025 flights in between Encarnación and Buenos Aires.

Additionally, Flybondi announced a new daily flight between Asunción and Buenos Aires. The goal is to increase the flow of tourists between the two countries. Furthermore, the Paraguayan company Paranair is exploring the reactivation of the Asunción-Iquique, route, aiming to grow connections with Chile.
