The Paraguayan Association of Bodybuilding, Powerlifting and International Fitness (APF&PFI) has officially announced the date for a major event in the nation’s 2026 sporting calendar: The prestigious Mr. Paraguay 2026 competition will take place on 22 August at the Teatro Guaraní. The national championship will serve as the primary qualifier for athletes hoping to represent Paraguay at the 2026 South American Championship in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Mr. Paraguay 2026 announcement kicks off a key pathway for the country’s elite bodybuilders. The Mr. Paraguay event is widely regarded as the pinnacle of the national competitive season, drawing top talent from across the country. Winning a category title not only brings national prestige but also the opportunity to compete against the best athletes on the continent.
A significant investment in national athletes
In a major development for the sport, the APF&PFI also revealed that it will fully fund the participation of the Paraguayan team at the upcoming South American Championship. This significant investment is intended to remove financial barriers for the nation’s top performers. By covering all essential costs, the organisation aims to ensure that athletes can focus entirely on their preparation and performance without the burden of fundraising.
The comprehensive support package will be provided to the 40 athletes who win their respective categories at the Mr. Paraguay event. According to details released by the APF&PFI on its social media channels, the funding includes travel to Argentina and a complete team uniform. In addition, the support covers event registration fees and four days of accommodation at the Marriott Hotel in Buenos Aires, ensuring the delegation is well-cared-for during the international competition.
Coordinating the national delegation
Víctor Niella, the Vice-President of the APF&PFI, commented on the scale of the national championship and the subsequent international representation. He explained the organisation’s commitment to a seamless transition from the national to the continental stage.
“All the category winners go to the South American championship in Buenos Aires in September, and we are already coordinating the actions because there will be approximately 44 people who will go to Argentina to represent us,” Niella stated.
This complete delegation will be crucial for managing the team’s needs during the highly competitive South American Championship. Ultimately, the organisation’s decision to provide full financial backing is a strategic move to elevate the standard of Paraguayan bodybuilding on the world stage.
