Paraguayan motorsport is celebrating the achievements of Joshua Dürksen, who had a remarkable weekend at Monza, Italy. The young Paraguayan driver prodigy from AIX Racing secured two consecutive podium finishes in the Formula 2 championship, a key feeder series to Formula 1.
On Saturday 6 September 2025, Dürksen (21) achieved a third-place finish in the Sprint race. This was his first points finish this season after six races without scoring. He showed impressive driving, moving up from fourth position and engaging in intense battles on track, particularly with Swedish-Bosnian Hitech Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy driver Dino Beganovic in the closing laps.
“We knew that if we repeated what we did last year in Monza, we would be strong again this year,” Dürksen commented after the race.
Impressive performance on Sunday
Duerksen’s most impressive result came on Sunday in the feature race. Starting from seventh position, he finished second, just behind British driver Luke Browning (Hitech TGR). The race was characterised by multiple incidents and safety car periods, yet Dürksen remained composed and aggressive, securing his best result to date in Formula 2.
Rising Star Joshua Dürksen
With these results, Dürksen now has five points-scoring finishes this season, three of which are podium places. He is rapidly establishing himself as one of the championship’s leading drivers.
Paraguayan driver prodigy Joshua Iván Dürksen Dyck was born in Asunción on 27 October 2003. He is of German descent, his great-grandfather being an immigrant who came to Paraguay escaping World War II. His parents are originally from the Chaco. His passion for racing began at age 11 when he convinced his parents to buy him a go-kart, leading to an international debut in the 2017 Rotax Max Challenge where he became the first Paraguayan to reach the final.
Dürksen stepped up to FIA Formula 2 in 2024 with AIX Racing (initially PHM), boosting team moral with his performance this weekend in Monza. In September 2024, Dürksen made history for Paraguay with the country’s first ever Formula 2 Sprint race victory.
Next stop: Baku
Dürksen’s next challenge will be in Baku, Azerbaijan, from the 19 to 21 of September 2025. He aims to maintain his current momentum, and continue his remarkable run in Paraguayan motorsport.
