Nilse Lezcano, known as Lia Love (25), is making waves in Paraguay’s music scene with her unique blend of pop and urban influences. Lia Love has recently been nominated in three categories at the Propya Awards: Song of the Year for Tren Fantasma, Best Pop Song, and Best Music Video. The nominations highlight her growing influence in the Paraguayan music scene and her distinctive artistic vision. She shares with The Asunción Times her background, recent achievements, and what to expect from her in 2026.
Breaking the mold in Paraguay’s music scene

“I love showing different facets, playing with characters and building universes,” Lia Love explains. She includes choreography, acting, and striking visual moments that stay with the audience. That foundation remains an essential part of her creative process. She remains proud of her Paraguayan roots. “The artistic proposal I present is not common in Paraguay, and that fills me with pride; it has become my main strength.”
Lia Love notes that audiences crave fresh perspectives. “I believe audiences are eager to see young figures and fresh proposals, and that energy is a great opportunity for all emerging artists.” However, daring to break the mould remains a challenge. Emerging artists must take risks to stand out.
Her music mixes pop with urban elements, creating a signature sound. “I am in constant exploration. I enjoy blending genres, experimenting with sounds, and allowing myself to evolve.” If she had to define her essence, she would call it “pink pop with strength.”
Over time, her songs have developed darker and more narrative twists. “You can clearly feel the influence of my great idols, such as Taylor Swift, especially in the way stories are told through songs.” Storytelling is key to her music’s emotional impact.
A creative vision beyond music
Lia Love takes full control of her music videos and creative projects. “I am completely involved; I am part of the entire process, 100%, and it is the part I enjoy the most.” She plans every detail from colours to textures and sensations.
Even for her latest release, Tren Fantasma (2025), she led both direction and marketing design. “It is extraordinary to feel proud and see positive results, but it is teamwork. I try to surround myself with people who are passionate about what they do.” Lia Love trusts her team to bring her vision to life.
“When all of that becomes reality, it is a tremendous source of pride for everyone,” she notes.

Acting and singing: A perfect match
Lia Love believes her dual skills strengthen each other. “When interpreting a song, recording it in the studio, performing it live, or filming a music video, having acting tools allows me to play with different characters and emotions. For me, singing, dancing, and acting do not compete; on the contrary, they complement one another. And I love fusing them.” Her versatility distinguishes her in Paraguay’s entertainment industry.
Social media is a key tool for her to connect with fans. “It allows you to connect with your audience every day, and that is a huge advantage.” Yet, she warns it can also be demanding.

“Everyone feels entitled to have an opinion about everything. One day they love you, and the next they may try to cancel you.” She chooses to focus on comments that add value. “I cannot control others’ opinions, but I can control my focus and energy.”
The artist draws inspiration from personal experiences, especially heartbreak. “My songs are rooted in my own experiences. I still feel there is so much more to tell.” At the same time, she encourages young artists to trust their dreams. “The path will be difficult and demanding; ups and downs are constant. Being an artist is a rollercoaster. The moment is now, with whatever you have. Every day you lay one more brick towards what you want to become. And above all, enjoy the process.”
Tren Fantasma and future plans
Her single Tren Fantasma (Ghost Train) earned nominations for the Propya Awards 2026, which will be on 10 March 2026. “It marked my life and my artistic career. The recognition from the public was incredible. Everything exceeded my expectations.” The project combined music, storytelling, and visual art.
Looking ahead, 2026 promises new releases, shows, theatre, and film. “I want to conquer new paths, explore different genres, and reveal facets of myself that people have not yet seen.” The year will include unexpected roles and artistic evolution. She also aims to expand her music across Paraguay and complete an album she has worked on for years. “I would love to return to national television this year,” Lia Love adds. Her goals reflect both ambition and passion for her craft.
