Supplies delivered to nearly 400 onion producers in Itapua
Similarly, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock delivered onion seeds to 396 producers in the districts of José Leandro Oviedo, San Pedro del Paraná, General Artigas, Coronel Bogado, San Cosme y Damián, and General Delgado, in the department of Itapúa.
This initiative is expected to cover approximately 100 hectares of crops, thus strengthening onion production in the area, a sector of great economic and social importance for family farmers.
This onion variety produces plants with short branches. The bulbs are top-shaped and coppery in color, with a medium number of cataphylls and a medium size. Its flavor is mild with a medium spiciness and is intended for fresh consumption.
Before distributing the supplies, all beneficiaries received technical guidance on crop management to ensure good results during the production process.
Sergio Fernández, technical coordinator of the DEAg; Diosnel Bareiro, manager of the DEAg CDA Itapúa Sur; and local technicians who closely support the producers were present at the delivery, according to MAG.
