In Paraguay, September 21 is a traditional holiday where the youth usually spend time together, and celebrate the beginning of the spring season, with games, fun, music and lots of cheer. That is why, this year, the National Secretary of Youth (Secretariat Nacional de la Juventud, or SNJ) plans on giving an unforgettable edition of the Palma Fair in Asunción. Rebranded Palma Joven (Palma Youth) for the occasion, the event will take place on 20 September 2025, from 11:00 to 23:00. The event has an exterior setting: it will cover seven blocks, from Iturbe to 14 de Mayo Street.
The activities are co-organised by the AMCHA, the Association of Asunción Historical City Centre Mobility and the SNJ. The AMCHA can also count on the support of the First Lady’s Office. The SNJ is expecting more than 100,000 people this Saturday.
Activities and scholarships at Palma Joven

The event organiser intends to revive the old spirit from the 1970s, 80s and 90s “Palmear” era, a time when people from all ages went to Palma Street to spend time with friends, connect with nature, and welcome the spring with all kinds of activities. Throughout the day, several national bands are listed to play, including Salamandra, La Goldie Oldie, La Nuestra and Qumbia Juan. There will also be an arcade zone for everyone to enjoy games.
An opportunity fair is also organised as part of Palma Joven for those who wish to apply for a scholarship. All people have to do is go to the scholarship stand at the fair with an ID and a studies certificate. There will be 2000 scholarships available. Lastly, people will be able to entrepreneurs fair as part of the event. Visitors can also join a free vaccination campaign for pets.
Local youth loves volunteering!
Paraguayan volunteering spirit is in the eye of the storm right now. After successfully hosting the FIA World Rally Championship and ASU 2025 Junior Panamerican Games, young volunteers are hosting Palma Joven. Many believed that one of the reasons the event visitors enjoyed their stay in Paraguay so much, was the volunteers’ spirit.
In Paraguay, locals warmly welcome visitors in general, fostering a great environment for cultural exchange, as often noted by tourists visiting the country.
