More than twenty cultural events will take place from 6 to 13 September 2025, organised by the British Embassy together with local partners. The celebration, British Week 2025, brings activities to Asunción and other cities, showcasing UK culture and shared values. The programme includes music, film, literature, gastronomy and education, fostering exchange and strengthening ties between the UK and Paraguay.
British Week programme
The opening weekend begins on Saturday 6 September at 11:00 in the morning with The Brunch Club – British Edition at El Elegido, offering a British-style breakfast experience. That same afternoon, CalleCultura presents family activities from 16:00 on Juan de Salazar, with storytelling sessions and outdoor games for children and parents alike. Both activities set the tone for a week of cultural exchange and celebration.
Monday 8 September
The week’s activities continue on Monday 8 at 11:00 in the morning, when Casa Rica supermarket will host a live cooking demonstration of traditional ‘Fish & Chips’ with Chef Jorge Iriberri. The event will also be attended by the British Ambassador to Paraguay, Danielle Dunne, underlining the role of gastronomy as part of the cultural celebrations.
Tuesday 9 September
The programme then moves to Tuesday 9, starting at 15:30 with Chevening promotion talks, a private event for officials of Paraguay’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, held at Alberdi and Eduardo Víctor Haedo.
That evening, The Asunción Times will host an after-work networking session in English at Cervecería Aurelia from 18:00 PM, followed at 19:30 PM by an evening reading session with Ambassador Danielle Dunne at Literato and Urbano Café.
Wednesday 10 September
Cultural and educational activities continue on Wednesday 10, beginning at 17:00 with a children’s reading session with the Ambassador at Books in Mariscal López Shopping. Later that evening, Youth Climate Talks, organised by the Youth Network for Climate Action in Paraguay, will take place at Shopping Villa Morra from 19:00. The day will close with a free Beatles tribute at JazzCube from 19:30.
Thursday 11 September

The schedule on Thursday 11 opens with a virtual tour of the Jane Austen House Museum at 12:00 noon, dedicated to the author of British classics such as Pride and Prejudice. Participation is subject to prior registration. Later, at 18:30, Cinemark at Paseo La Galería will host a special screening of Pride & Prejudice, open to audiences over 16, with Spanish subtitles and prior registration required. That night also features a Britpop tribute at Sacramento Brewing Co. at 20:00, an over-18s event offering a British-themed menu and beers, accompanied by live music from the tribute band 911 Covers performing British classics. The evening will close with the Triumph British Night in Luque at 20:00, an invitation-only gathering that combines music, style and the iconic motorcycles born in England.
Friday 12 September
Friday 12 presents a Chevening after office at Sacramento Brewing Co. from 18:30, a registration-only event where alumni of the UK government’s scholarship share their experiences abroad. Later that evening, at 20:00, the band Rehab will perform an Amy Winehouse tribute at the same venue, while at 21:00 London Pub in Pedro Juan Caballero will host a British Night with live music.
Saturday 13 September
The final day, Saturday 13, opens with the Triumph Ride at 09:00 in the morning from Autopista Silvio Pettirossi km 12, corner with Autopista Ñu Guasu in Luque, heading to Nueva Londres by prior invitation. A little later, at 11:00 a Chevening talk will take place at Anglo English, aimed at students interested in opportunities to pursue postgraduate studies in the United Kingdom through the Chevening scholarship.
In the afternoon, at 14:00, Chevening Alumni will lead an essay-writing workshop at Stael Ruffinelli de Ortíz, designed to help applicants prepare successful essays for the Chevening scholarship. The celebrations will conclude at 21:00 PM with another British Night at London Pub.
British tastes all week
Throughout the week, British-inspired food will be available across the city: Teatime Bakery offers pastries, Doña Ángela presents themed desserts, La María Cocina y Carbón includes British dishes on its menu, and Sacramento Brewing Co. will serve British beers alongside a special menu.

British Week 2025 is part of the Embassy’s cultural diplomacy, creating shared spaces for audiences of all ages to experience British creativity. Most activities are free, though some require pre-registration or are invitation-only, several evening events are for over-18s. Venues span Asunción, Luque, Nueva Londres and Pedro Juan Caballero, with precise locations listed in each event notice. Several sessions are conducted in English, making them ideal for foreigners and learners. Families will also find accessible options throughout the programme.
