Paraguay Business Week 2025 Launched In Ciudad del Este

Paraguay Business Week 2025, the country’s most significant business event, commenced on 8 September at the Gran Nobile Hotel and Convention in Ciudad del Este. The strategic business week combines three key events: the Alto Paraná Invest Forum (organised by the Vice-Ministry of Rediex), the 16th Expo Paraguay Brasil, and Expo Maquila, organised by the Chamber of Maquiladoras of Paraguay (CEMAP), celebrating its 25th anniversary.

Over three days, business meetings will involve 650 companies, 380 of which are Brazilian. These companies hail from eight countries and represent 45 sectors. Expo Paraguay Brasil will feature 147 stands, 161 exhibiting companies, and 588 people showcasing products, services, and innovations. More than 50 talks are scheduled, covering sustainable investment, industrial transformation, and business leadership.

Paraguay’s economic potential

The Paraguay Business Week 2025 opening ceremony was attended by President Santiago Peña. He underscored Paraguay’s considerable economic potential, particularly in Alto Paraná, a key driver of national economic growth. “Ciudad del Este is not just another city; it is the city,” Peña stated.

The President predicted that Paraguay would be South America’s fastest-growing economy for the third consecutive year in 2025, exceeding 4 percent growth.

“Paraguay has not seen this since 2006, 2007 and 2008. The only difference is that, at that time, South America was growing at those rates, and Paraguay grew at the same pace as the rest of the countries; today, Paraguay is growing when other countries are not,” Peña stated.

Attracting more investment

Furthermore, the President affirmed the government’s commitment to accelerating this growth through initiatives designed to attract more investment and create more jobs.

“Because we understand that the best social policy is the generation of decent employment, we understand that the role of the State should be limited in some areas, in health, education, security, infrastructure. There we must invest the time of the State so that the private sector is encouraged to invest.”

Investment matchmaking

A significant Paraguay Business Week 2025 highlight is the Investment Matchmaking event, organised by Rediex. This event brings together over 100 public and private projects with a portfolio exceeding US$10,000 million. Sectors represented include agro-industry, renewable energies, infrastructure, health, tourism, logistics, and technology. Investors from 15 countries are participating, with a particular focus on projects with high economic and environmental impact.
