The Carolina Foundation has opened a new call for applications today, through which Paraguayan professionals can access high-level academic training in Spain. These scholarships offer comprehensive support that includes coverage of travel costs, a monthly stipend, tuition (total or partial) and medical insurance, in strategic areas for professional and social development.
Postgraduate scholarships are aimed at graduates with outstanding CVs and a notable social commitment. These scholarships allow students to study official master’s degrees, private degrees and specialisation courses in various areas such as:
- Local development, territorial innovation and social education.
- Migrations, public health and tropical diseases.
- Biotechnology, emergency and critical care nursing.
- History and memory, audiovisual projects and social and health care.
- Environmental law, intellectual property and economics.
- Communication, journalism and cultural tourism.
- Robotics, artificial intelligence, big data and cybersecurity.
- Applied chemistry, renewable energy and sustainable construction.
- Geology, hydrology, biodiversity and political science.
- International relations, public policies and governance.
- Project management, art history, physics and mathematics.
In the case of doctorates, active agreements with the Carolina Foundation for co-financing are required. In Paraguay, the National University of Asunción and the National University of Caaguazú have them, with 3 and 1 scholarship places, respectively. The doctoral scholarships last 4 years and include a monthly stipend of 1,200 euros, 4 round-trip air tickets, and non-pharmaceutical medical insurance.
For postdoctoral research stays, the National Scholarship Program “Don Carlos Antonio López” (BECAL), in collaboration with the Carolina Foundation, offers up to 5 scholarships for the period 2025/2026. The stays will be between 3 and 11 months, with benefits such as 1,200 euros per month stipend, round-trip airfare and health insurance.
Carolina Foundation: The Application process
Applications are exclusively online through the official Carolina Foundation website. The key dates for applications for different types of scholarships are:
- Postgraduate scholarships: until March 12, 2025.
- PhD scholarships and short stays: until April 3, 2025.
- Stays funded by BECAL: until April 2, 2025.
