Taiwan and Paraguay aim to boost ties in technology and communications

Gustavo Villate, The Paraguayan Minister of Information and Communication Technologies (Mitic), is visiting Taiwan this week to strengthen cooperation in the technological and communication fields between the two nations.

On the first day of the official visit, he was received by Miin Wu, Chairman and CEO of Macronix, a leading company in integrated devices in the non-volatile memory market. Macronix is located at the Hsinchu Science Park in Taiwan, with a 12-inch semiconductor wafer plant and another 8-inch.

Throughout the rest of the week, Villate will hold meetings with prominent government officials and academics from Taiwan, and visit various  agencies and technological research centers, such as the National Science and Technology Commission, the Hsinchu Science Park, Chunghwa Telecom offices, and the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology.

Paraguay is one of the twelve states that maintain diplomatic relations with Taipei. In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan said that this visit represents “an opportunity to share successful development experiences, strengthen collaborative ties, and contribute to the welfare of the peoples of both countries”.
