Project for the manufacturing of electric buses in Paraguay aims to generate 2,500 direct jobs

The project by Taiwanese firm Master Bus, which plans to establish an electric bus factory in Paraguay, will involve an investment of around US$30 million and the creation of between 2,000 and 2,500 direct jobs, according to its executives.

The Vice Minister of Industry, Lorena Méndez, held a meeting with executives from Taiwanese firm Master Bus and representatives from the Embassy of Taiwan in Paraguay, discussing progress and short-term challenges, as well as the processes executed for the firm’s installation in Paraguay.

Executives from the Taiwanese company highlighted the great potential identified in Paraguay within the electromobility development sector, both for local use and for export to the Mercosur region.

Vice Minister Méndez emphasized that among the points discussed, there are 14 vacancies for internships in Taiwan offered by the firm and intended for students from the Paraguay-Taiwan Polytechnic University (UPTP), so they can gain practical experience in the operation of a bus company for six months.

Additionally, Méndez highlighted that executives and specialists from Master Bus, according to the pre-established schedule, continue to hold a series of meetings and work sessions with the public sector, including Vice Ministers from the Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

They also held meetings with representatives from the private sector to share experiences in electric mobility, infrastructure and logistics, maintenance services, and parts production, among others, according to the most convenient, effective, and comprehensive business model.

During the meeting they were Vice President of Master Bus, Mr. Terence Shen, accompanied by Raúl Chan, Commercial Attaché, and Antonella Silvera, who are part of the diplomatic corps of the Embassy of Taiwan in Paraguay, and Aníbal Giménez, the Director General of Industrial Policy at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
