The Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (MITIC) began this Friday the process of signing contracts to the 403 awarded with scholarships for studies in emerging technologies within the Bootcamp TIC program.
The first 60 beneficiaries signed their contracts on Friday at an event held at the headquarters of the Ministry. The others will sign according to the communicated calendar, the institution reported.
The Bootcamp is an intensive training programme that allows participants to acquire the skills necessary to integrate into the technology sector. The duration of the program varies according to the specialty chosen, usually between 3 and 6 months.
MITIC Deputy Minister of Technologies Juan Ardissone pointed out that these are training options in emerging technologies that are needed today, such as data analysis, machine learning, big data, artificial intelligence, among others.
The courses are developed online and are offered through training companies such as Coding Dojo Latam, Make it Real, the Higher Technical Institute LIFE, Desafío Latam SPA and Cymetria Group.
The call was addressed to persons over 18 years of age with previous training in ICT-related areas. Of the 1,400 applications received, priority was given to graduates from technical colleges, university students or graduates, and professionals.
There were also 10 places for persons with disabilities or members of indigenous communities, which were awarded to 3 beneficiaries for 403 persons admitted to the call.
About the bootcamp
For bootcamps, MITIC covers 100% of the cost of the courses, with a maximum amount of up to USD 3.000. Beneficiaries must pay 5% of the amount at the beginning of the programme, which will be reimbursed after the completion certificate has been submitted.
The initiative is part of the Digital Agenda Support Programme (PAAD), funded through a loan line from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
