Paraguay and Israel are launching bilateral technical cooperation in tourism, supporting key areas such as technological innovation, digital marketing, tourism observatory, river tourism, and training.
In a key meeting for the development of the tourism sector, Minister of Tourism Angie Duarte met with Israel’s Ambassador to Paraguay, Amit Mekel, to confirm the beginning of this significant collaboration for the country.
During the meeting, Ambassador Mekel highlighted that Israel would provide support in strategic areas and training to strengthen the sector.
For her part, Minister Duarte emphasised the value of this agreement and the opportunity to share Paraguay’s successful tourism experiences with Israel.
“We are convinced that this cooperation will allow us to enhance our tourism industry, learn from Israel’s best practices, and exchange knowledge for the benefit of both countries,” she stated.
Air connectivity to facilitate tourist flow between the two countries
Discussions also covered air connectivity, aiming to facilitate the movement of tourists between both nations and create new opportunities for the sector.
“We are working to strengthen our tourism sector and create new growth opportunities. Cooperation with Israel will allow us to innovate and improve Paraguay’s promotion as a high-quality tourist destination,” Minister Duarte emphasised.
With this agreement, Paraguay takes a step forward in solidifying its tourism industry as a key driver for economic development and the country’s international projection.
This initiative aligns with the reactivation of diplomatic relations between Paraguay and Israel, driven by President Santiago Peña during his visit to Israel last December.
On that occasion, the Paraguayan president was received by Israeli President Isaac Herzog and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who praised his leadership and reaffirmed the strong friendship between the two nations.
Paraguay and Israel have increased trade in recent months, with Paraguay’s Ambassador making news a few months ago with his proud discovery of Paraguayan beef in an Israeli supermarket.
