A delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), with specialists from Rediex, recently visited the facilities of the company called T&D Recycling, which is dedicated to transforming discarded tires into high-value products.
The tour was led by the Vice Minister of Industry, Lorena Méndez, and is part of the work agenda of the Driving Group for the Circular Economy in Paraguay.
The tire recycling company T&D Recycling, known locally in Spanish as ” TyD Recycling”, located in the city of Limpio near Asunción, operates under a purely circular model, offering the community a sustainable alternative that contributes to solving the tire problem, reducing the environmental impact caused by tire waste.
During the visit to T&D Recycling, Vice Minister Méndez highlighted the great importance of this type of industry focused solely on recycling being able to operate in the country, making a great contribution to the conservation and protection of environmental resources by promoting the development of more circular and sustainable industries.
In turn, Tomislav Miladinovic, co-founder of T&D Recycling, pointed out that, as pioneers of the tire recycling industry, it is very important to feel the support of the MIC, which encourages us to continue growing as an industry, and thus be able to face the challenges we face as pioneers in the tire recycling sector.
“In the end, the service we are providing is a service that benefits the entire Paraguayan population, taking into account that we are a company that is promoting the circular economy, converting special waste into raw material and high-quality products, which are reflected in the national and international market as well,” the co-founder of T&D Recycling stressed.
T&D Recycling is creating jobs
For his part, Máximo Barreto, Director General of Planning and Control, stated that “the circular economy represents an opportunity for the country to generate income and create decent jobs. Today we saw a success story of a Paraguayan circular company, with triple economic, social and environmental impact,” he said, referring to T&D Recycling.
This industry, dedicated to recycling and treating used tires, aims to reuse them by manufacturing other products such as steel, mulch, granulated rubber and rubber powder. Currently, T&D Recycling has 22 direct employees, more than 30 indirect employees and more than 350 suppliers, including recyclers and collection centers.
It is worth noting that T&D Recycling receives tires from trucks, vans, cars, motorcycles and bicycles, whose parts are brought by different suppliers, from individuals, collectors on motorcycles, to large exchange centers and companies with fleets.
The general consensus by those present at the event was that it would be even better for Paraguay if more companies followed the lead of T&D Recycling, which would help Paraguay, the people of Paraguay, and the environment of Paraguay, whist still being a profitable business enterprise and creating good jobs for Paraguayans.
