Estela Asilvera Launches New Children’s Books Featuring Fru The Cat

Paraguayan writer Estela Asilvera (49), presents on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, her 13th and 14th books. These are works aimed at children, and their parents and teachers, for shared reading. They have illustrations by Ale Espinoza, a young artist who gave life to Fru, through colored drawings, the kitten protagonist of these adventures, teaches the traditional chipa apo and shares experiences with her humans.

The children’s literature collection has the following titles: “Fru and her adventures”, and the now presented, “Fru goes to school” and “Fru and the chipa apo”. The official launch will take place at Casona Loma Taruma, a Fun Point located in Mexico near Rodriguez de Francia, in Asunción.

The saga “Fru and her adventures”, which began in 2024 with the first title “Fru and her house”, combines entertaining stories with educational and pedagogical elements. The series seeks to encourage reading from early childhood, and instill essential values ​​such as friendship, solidarity and teamwork. Through simple and close language, and with an endearing character like the cat Fru, the saga adapts Paraguayan customs and traditions, creating a bridge between local culture and the world of the little ones.

“Fru goes to school”: Learning values ​​in the classroom

It tells the funny adventures of the cat Fru, who begins her school life with her preschool classmates. Through a particular situation that occurs at school, the story highlights the importance of companionship, friendship, solidarity and equality among peers. This book not only entertains, but also teaches children to face everyday challenges with joy and cooperation, becoming a valuable tool for parents and educators.

“Fru and the chipa apo”: Tradition and family in the kitchen

In “Fru and the Chipa Apo,” Fru the cat delves into one of Paraguay’s most beloved traditions: the preparation of chipa. Together with her human family, Fru discovers the necessary ingredients and enjoys a snack accompanied by stew. This book promotes values ​​such as helping the family, the importance of culinary traditions, and pride in Paraguayan cultural heritage. In addition, it encourages family unity and the joy of sharing special moments, turning the kitchen into a space for learning and fun.

The author Estela Asilvera invites everyone to the presentation of two books

The event will feature interactive activities and a raffle for attendees, both children and adults, in an atmosphere full of magic and fun. These books, published under the children’s label Ediciones Nauti by Ediciones del Nautilus, are designed to stimulate the imagination and love of reading in children from 2 to 8 years old. The cost of each copy is Gs. 50,000 (approx 6 USD).
