“Children of Acosta Ñu” Pediatric Hospital opens oncology ward to help 6,000 children

The Pediatric Hospital “Children of Acosta Ñu” inaugurated an oncology ward that will benefit approximately 6,000 children who completed their cancer treatments. The work, which covers 200 square meters, was made possible through the cooperation of the Government of Japan through the Mitã’í Foundation.

The new space has five offices, a reception, a nursing station area with a dressing room, a storage room for materials and bathrooms, as well as the necessary basic furniture.

At the inauguration, the Vice Minister of Comprehensive Health Care and Social Welfare, Santiago García, He stressed that this new infrastructure will allow offering high-quality care to children who continue in their fight against cancer, with advanced treatments and specialized care.

He also highlighted the importance of international cooperation and affirmed that joint work made this achievement possible, demonstrating the positive impact that can be achieved when efforts are united for a common objective.

At this point, he thanked the Government of Japan for its contribution and reaffirmed the commitment to continue working together to improve the health of the population. In particular, he thanked the Japanese ambassador, Nakatani Yoshie, who also participated in the event.

García, who was accompanied by the Vice Minister of Rectory and Health Surveillance, José Ortellado, He stressed that the goal is to provide a comprehensive and humane service that accompanies children and their families at each stage of the recovery process.

This unit will offer greater comfort during follow-up controls. Patients may receive comprehensive care from their pediatrician, onco-hematologist, traumatologist, or neurosurgeon at a single visit, depending on the type of cancer and the treatment received during the years of fighting the disease.

Collaboration between the Government of Japan and the Mitã’í Foundation was essential to achieve this goal, demonstrating that joining efforts can transform lives and offer hope to those who need it most.
