Paraguay continues to stand out as a destination full of opportunities for growth and opportunities for development, according to Kirsten Schoder-Steinmueller, CEO of Schoder GmbH, a German company specialising in metal processing, based in Langen, Germany.
Schoder-Steinmueller was impressed by Paraguay during her recent visit, particularly with its continued economic growth, flourishing agricultural sector and increasing role as an energy exporter.
In a LinkedIn post , the businesswoman expressed her admiration for the opportunities Paraguay offers, both for the country and for German companies interested in investing. “My visit showed me the amount of opportunities and potential this country offers, not only for Paraguay itself, but also for German companies that want to invest and help shape the future,” she said.
Schoder-Steinmueller stressed that Paraguay has experienced impressive development over the past twenty years, highlighting in particular the country’s constant economic expansion. “What impressed me most was that between 2002 and 2023, the relative poverty rate was almost halved – a real success in social development!” she said.
One of the key moments of the visit was the meeting with authorities from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF). Schoder-Steinmueller met with Lorena Méndez, Vice Minister of Industry, Gustavo Giménez, Vice Minister of MSMEs, the German ambassador Gordon Kricke, and several directors of the Investment and Export Network (Rediex). During the meeting, topics such as cooperation between Paraguay and Germany, the country’s positioning within Mercosur and opportunities for professional training were discussed.
Another highlight was the exchange with Angela Janzen from ja-dialog Paraguay, a German company that has been operating in the country since 2023. With the support of AHK Paraguay, ja-dialog has set up a call centre offering services in German for the market in the European country, opening up new opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
Schoder-Steinmueller also participated in the “Business Women Forum,” where female leadership, business integrity and innovation were discussed. The CEO highlighted how women are assuming an increasingly important role in the Paraguayan economy, from managerial positions to CEO positions in trade and services sectors.
Growth and opportunities: Paraguay’s potential, and challenges
In her analysis of Paraguay’s strengths, Schoder-Steinmueller cited low energy prices, a booming agricultural sector and increasing industrialisation. However, she also acknowledged challenges in infrastructure and legal security, although she highlighted the government’s efforts to improve these aspects.
Finally, Schoder-Steinmueller concluded that Paraguay represents a country full of growth and opportunities for sustainable business, innovation and cooperation. “German companies not only find attractive economic conditions, but also partners who share similar values,” she concluded.
With this positive outlook, Paraguay is emerging as an ideal destination for international investment, especially in key sectors such as energy, agriculture and technology. A Paraguayan government statement said: “Foreign companies are invited to join the process of growth and mutual cooperation in the country.”
