Excellence in Tourism Awards 2024

Chaco’s Crafts Route Aspires To Win The 2024 Excellence in Tourism Awards

The National Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur) announced that Paraguay will be represented at the 2024 Excellence in Tourism Awards, through two finalist projects that highlight the country’s creativity, innovation and sustainability in the field of tourism and gastronomy.

The Excelencias Awards were created in 2005 by the Excelencias Group to reward projects that incorporate tourism, gastronomy, art and culture. The awards ceremony takes place at each edition of the Madrid International Tourism Fair (Fitur). This year’s awards ceremony will take place on January 23, 2025.

The two proposals correspond to the “National Crafts Route”, an initiative that highlights the talent of Paraguayan artisans and promotes cultural tourism and the economy of artisan families. It is promoted by the Paraguayan Institute of Crafts (IPA).

The second project is “Tucos Factory,” a proposal that combines gastronomy with sustainable practices promoting the use of wild fruits with the participation of indigenous and rural women from four communities in the department of Boquerón.

“These nominations reflect the collective effort of those who work every day for Paraguayan tourism, showing the world the immense value of our culture and creativity. From Senatur we will continue to promote projects that position us as a unique and sustainable destination,” said the Minister of Tourism, Angie Duarte.

Excellence in Tourism Awards

Paraguay has been awarded the Excellence in Tourism Award in previous editions. In 2017, the Senatur Tourist Inns project received the award in the Public Policies and Governance Category.

Last year, the 2023 edition of the Missionary Tour was recognised , which preserves the culture and local customs of the department of Misiones, and the Gua’a Route, which seeks to preserve the Macaw species in the department of Concepción, and has ecotourism circuits for their sighting in their natural environment.
